Bungie Says Those Stats You Like Are Going to Come Back in Style

She's filled with secrets.

Destiny 2‘s latest content infusion, Season of the Worthy, isn’t off to a great start. Since the patch hit on Tuesday morning, players have lamented the similarities between this season’s Warmind Bunkers and last season’s Obelisks, which are both, essentially, giant buckets for players to dump seasonal currency into. They’ve also taken issue with how quickly Season of the Worthy reverts back to the usual grind as compared to last season, and how the new randomized guns draw from a pool of less effective perks than is typically the case.

Additionally, Tuesday’s update also changed how everyone’s stat-tracking profile emblems work, removing the ability for players to display many of their proudest accomplishments in the process. Players immediately began to worry that not only were their old stats gone, but maybe they were gone for good, and ain’t nobody out here keeping their own track of this stuff.

Well, while Season of the Worthy may still have ongoing issues with its core, foundational gameplay concepts, Bungie wants you to know that your stats are safe on a server somewhere, and that it has plans to implement them back into the game.

“Our first selection of stats were determined by prioritizing stats that represented a skill that could be improved week-over-week or Season-over-Season and be an accomplishment that players would want to display that was meaningful to other players,” the developer said in this week’s This Week at Bungie update. “Because of that, some stats that couldn’t be completed or improved any longer weren’t included.”

“We believe in these requirements in principle,” the update continues, “but strictly applying them retroactively unfairly removed your ability to show off accomplishments that you could flaunt in Seasons prior. It was a change made with good intention, but was the wrong way to roll out a new system. We’ve identified some stats that can be added back in a future patch, and wanted to share them with you. We are currently planning to add these stat trackers back in an update later in the Season.”

This change caught people off guard for a few reasons, but chief amongst them was that no one asked for this. Of everything in Destiny 2‘s user interface that needs fiddling, the emblem system wasn’t even on the list, let alone a season-launch priority. And had Bungie given anyone any indication that it was planning to do this, it could have done a little messaging before the patch to manage people’s expectations, saving everyone a lot of headache and consternation.

Anyway, are the stats that Bungie has already identified as compatible with the new system, lifted directly from the post:

    • Lifetime
      • Season 8 Season Pass Rank Earned
      • Season 9 Season Pass Rank Earned
      • Fractaline Donated
    • Lifetime
      • Kills as a Sentinel Titan
      • Kills as a Striker Titan
      • Kills as a Sunbreaker Titan
      • Kills as a Arcstrider Hunter
      • Kills as a Nightstalker Hunter
      • Kills as a Gunslinger Hunter
      • Kills as a Stormcaller Warlock
      • Kills as a Dawnblade Warlock
      • Kills as a Voidwalker Warlock
    • Lifetime
      • Gold Medals Earned
      • Longest Glory Win Streak
      • Total Valor Resets
    • Lifetime
      • Pit of Heresy Solo Flawless Completions

Bungie goes on to note that the above list “isn’t complete yet,” and that more stats will be unearthed and added before the update, which currently has no ETA beyond “this season.” Bungie recommends that Guardians “sound off on the Bungie.net forums, DTG Subreddit, or even Twitter” to let it know which unavailable stats should be prioritized for a glorious return.
