This week, you’ll find Xur on the EDZ in the Winding Cove. He’s up on a ledge in the northernmost end of the area. Just keep climbing and you’ll hit a little encampment where he’s hiding out.
What’s he selling? This week, you can grab the following from him:
- Riskrunner: 29 Legendary Shards
- Fr0st-EE5: 23 Legendary Shards
- Eternal Warrior: 23 Legendary Shards
- Transversive Steps: 23 Legendary Shards
- Isochronal Engram: 97 Legendary Shards
- Invitation quest: 9 Legendary Shards
It’s worth noting that Exotic armor now rolls with one of three different Elemental types, as well as a variable number of total stat points. I’ll tell you both of those in the listings below. I’ll also give you my thoughts of the viability of each piece of gear, but if you have the Legendary Shards to spend then it’s always a good idea to buy anything you don’t already have. Gotta fill out those Collections!
You can get Riskrunner through a fun quest from Banshee-44 that takes you into an area from the first Destiny, so there’s not much reason to pick this up from Xur. That said, the gun itself is a blast to use. Take any Arc damage, and Riskrunner starts firing supercharged shots and refilling its own magazine, a state that continues as long as you keep getting kills. No Arc damage around? No problem, just throw an Arc grenade at your feet. It may not be the most meta SMG right now, since it can’t equip mods, but Riskrunner is still a blast to use.
These Hunter boots buff your ability regeneration while sprinting, and increase your sprint speed when you dodge. They’re okay, but Hunters are spoiled for choice when it comes for Exotics, so there will usually be better options. Pair with Way of the Pathfinder and the Seasonal Artifact mod Arc Battery for best effect. These Fr0st-EE5 are Arc elemental with a stat total of 48.
Eternal Warrior is a Titan helm that gives you an overshielf when you pop Fists of Havoc. Slightly more useful since the defense boost for roaming supers was tuned down, but mostly just overkill. Titans have better options. This one is Arc elemental and has a stat total of 48.
Gotta go fast? Then pick up the Transversive Steps for your Warlock, which increase sprint speed and reload your energy weapon while sprinting. They’re… fine. If you absolutely need to run around the place like a blue hedgehog then go ahead and try them out. You might find them useful for PVP, but in PVE Warlocks have better choices — unless you’re trying to speedrun Nightfalls or something. These ones are Arc elemental with a stat total of 48.
Xur’s Isochronal Engram now includes Year Two Exotics, so if you’re missing any of those you can grab this to fill out your collection.
