Final Fantasy XIV Live Letter Part 79 Details All New Content Coming in Patch 6.5

The new expansion is almost here, and the last of the patches are starting to come through.

Final Fantasy XIV's newest expansion Dawntrail, which was revealed at Fan Fest, is almost here and players are now getting the last bits of information about the end of Endwalker patch content with a special Live Letter. The 6.5x patch series will introduce the beginning of the new story that is coming with Dawntrail

FFXIV's Letter from the Producer Live took place at the Tokyo Game Show, where producers shared more information about what players can expect with the newest patch content, including new story, Trials, Dungeons, Alliance Raids, Variant Dungeons, Island Sanctuary upgrades, and more.

For those that couldn't stay up super late to watch the showcase, here is everything that was announced during the FFXIV Live Letter from the Producers 79. The patch also got a release date of Oct. 3, just over a week from the date of the Live Letter.

  • New Main Scenario Quests
    • Growing Light Part one - Patch 6.5
    • Growing Light Part two - Patch 6.55
  • New Tataru's Grand Endeavor quests (Patch 6.55)
  • Endwalker Tribal Alliance quests (Patch 6.55)
    • Requires players to complete the Arkasodara, Omicron, and Lopporit tribal quests
  • More Hildibrand quests (Patch 6.55)
  • New Manderville Relic Weapon step (Patch 6.55)
  • New Splendorous Tools step (Patch 6.51)
  • New Dungeon
    • The Lunar Subterrane
  • New Trials
    • The Abyssal Fracture
    • The Abyssal Fracture (Extreme)
  • New Alliance Raid
    • Myths of the Realm Part 3: Thaleia
  • New Unreal Trial
    • The Singularity Reactor (Unreal)
  • New Variant and Criterion Dungeon (Patch 6.51)
    • Aloalo Island
      • In response to feedback, developers are planning to add new rewards for Savage mode
  • Duty Support for Stormblood
    • The Drowned City of Skalla
    • The Burn
    • The Ghimlyt Dark
    • Duty Support will be available for all ARR through Endwalker content
  • Job adjustments for both PvE and PvP
    • Adjustments will be made in Patch 6.5 to balance damage output between jobs within each role
      • Potency will be increased for certain job actions
      • No rotations will be adjusted for jobs ahead of 7.0
  • PvP updates
    • PvP Series Five will begin
  • Crystalline Conflict Updates
    • Minimap and UI adjustments
      • New settings to permanently display affiliated team to the left of the minimap and/or HUD
      • New line on the field indicates the 'comeback point', which is how far the team must progress to take the lead
      • New setting to display a countdown timer ten seconds prior to commencements of overtime
      • Enhanced progress gauge
        • Winning team's indicator will flash in the background
        • A new yellow line with the comeback point
        • More visible checkpoints
        • During overtime, the gauge will indicate how long the losing team can remain from the tactical crystal before the match ends
      • Effects for certain actions, pets, and more will be adjusted to indicate an ally or an enemy (Patch 6.51)
    • New map - The Red Sands (Patch 6.51)
  • Island Sanctuary Updates
    • New Sanctuary ranks and visions
    • New gathering in the wilds
    • New crops, isleworks handicrafts, animals, structures, and more
    • New options at the Felicitious Favors
  • Fall Guys collaboration (Patch 6.5x)
    • The collaboration will come soon to the Gold Saucer
  • Miscellaneous Updates
    • New Custom Deliveries: Margarat
    • New consecutive aetherial reduction function for collectables
    • Green dot indicators on newly logged fish in the Fish Guide
    • Ability to store optional items in the armoire
    • Ability to sort teleport destinations by expansion
    • New reward for obtaining all Trial mounts in the 6.x patch series
    • Item level restrictions for Duty Roulette: Alliance Raid based on level
    • EXP and Allagan tomestone rewards for each Alliance Raid will be adjusted according to difficulty and time required for completion
    • New mounts, minions, and emotes
  • Planned improvements to server infrastructure
    • The use of cloud data centers is under consideration
    • A North American cloud data center will be temporarily implemented for the purposes of a public stress test which will be held during the 6.5x patch series. The Data Center selection screen will display the cloud DC as an option upon 6.5's release and will be accessible once the test starts

  • KFC and FFXIV Collaboration
    • Begins Oct. 4
