What Is Void Suppression in Destiny 2 and How To Use

Suppression is an affliction related to the Void subclass. Every enemy affected by it is taken out of any active abilities. In addition, they won’t be able to activate any abilities or movement modes as long as Suppression persists. The afflicted combatants cannot fire their weapons either.

There are two ways to use Destiny 2 Void Suppression:

Unlock the Suppressor Grenade
Unlock the Suppressing Glaive Artifact in the Synaptic Spear, which costs four points and is located on the fourth column (bear in mind the Suppressing Glaive Artifact Mod has been temporarily disabled.)

It’s an incredibly powerful ability that can come in handy across many situations. There is a chance for you to stumble upon Vanguard bounties that involve the affliction (such as suppressing X amount of enemies), so it’s worth knowing how to find it.

Both of these methods are good enough. It’s likely it will take you a while to unlock the fourth row in the seasonal artifact, so until then, the Suppressor Grenade is your friend. My advice is to practice with it since it takes a few seconds for the explosion to actually happen. This means that knowing where you’re throwing it is essential, as it works differently from others, which have an immediate impact.

There is a chance that the explosion may take regular enemies down on a whim without actually counting towards the bounty — if they die before they actually get Suppressed, that is. It’s recommended to focus on elite enemies, which inevitably takes more time due to their lower frequency but is the safer method.

Once you have the chance to get your hands on the Glaive artifact, do it immediately. If you use the weapon often, this is a must-have. Below are a couple of pairing recommendations that go well with it:

Suppressing Glaive and Stylish Executioner: If you’re using a Hunter, you can’t go wrong with the Stylish Executioner Aspect. Every time you defeat a Void-debuffed target (either weakened, volatile, or suppressed), your Hunter obtains invisibility and Truesight. Considering that Suppressing Glaive also applies to the melee attacks from the Glaive, this makes it a must.
Suppressing Glaive and Echo of Domineering: This is a Void Fragment, meaning you can combine it with the suggestion above. After suppressing an enemy, you get a boost to Mobility and your equipped weapon is reloaded from reserves. Oh, and remember that Void Fragments aren’t class-exclusive, so knock yourself out.
