Vampire Survivors Secret Character Guide - How to Unlock Exdash Exiviiq

I know you're here, Exdash, you big fucking nerd.

If you’re waiting on the new Castlevania season and you’ve already watched Midnight MassVampire Survivors may scratch the itch. This bullet hell game with roguelite elements has a very distinct gameplay loop, inviting you to only move your character while hordes of enemies approach them for a swift attack. As expected, there are a number of characters to unlock, but not all of them are in the menu.

If you want to know how to unlock the Vampire Survivors secret character, we’ve got you covered. (And no, there are no NFTs in this one.)

How to Unlock Exdash Exiviiq – Vampire Survivors Secret Character

The process to unlock the Vampire Survivors secret character is easy enough, and only requires the following:

  • In the main menu, type x-x1viiq

Writing this while sitting on the title screen should be enough to unlock Exdash Exiviiq, whom we’ll talk about in more detail soon. You’ll know the character has been unlocked by a distinct sound, but if anything, hit play to see the character selection and Exdash should be there.

Vampire Survivors Secret Character 2

In case it doesn’t become available right away, there are a couple of workarounds. In my experience, I tried to unlock the character the first time I had opened the game, which didn’t work. I restarted the game and didn’t press anything in the main menu, and then I typed down the code. Depending on your keyboard, I recommend avoiding using the minus (-) button on the numpad if you have one, and instead use the regular hyphen (-) button next to the right shift.

You may have to retry a couple of times, but that’s what worked for me. In case it’s worth noting, there isn’t a text field or anything similar. You have to be on the main menu and just write the code on your keyboard — the game will recognize it directly (you may have to write it really fast, so keep on trying). Oh, and since Vampire Survivors opens up in windowed mode by default, check that you haven’t accidentally clicked outside the window before typing the code. One quick trick is to press ALT + Enter to go into fullscreen mode.

What Does Luck Do? – Vampire Survivors Exdash Exiviiq Stats

So, let’s talk about Exdash Exiviiq. Their stats are the following:

  • Max Health: 77
  • Move Speed: -10%
  • Might: +5%
  • Area: -5%
  • Speed: -50%
  • Duration: -10%
  • Cooldown: +10%
  • Luck: +100%

Exdash’s description reads “at least they’re lucky” — while harsh, that pretty much sums them up; they’re not an extraordinary character by any means. While having that much luck is good, you need to take into account the low speed and fairly mundane stats all around. (Seriously, Exdash is painfully slow.)

Vampire Survivors Secret Character 3
I love the design, though.

In case you were wondering, here’s what Luck is for in Vampire Survivors (according to the developer):

  • Enables the chance to get a 4th item option when leveling up.
  • Lowers the chance of negative events (such as bat swarms and flower walls).
  • Improves the chance of getting good items when destroying braziers.
  • Improves the chance of getting a Treasure Chest that is different than usual.
  • Raises chances of dealing critical damage (for weapons with critical capabilities).
  • A not-so-helpful endnote that says “Luck affects many things” — such as real life, I guess.

Lastly, the weapon: Ebony Wings has a charismatic bat flying around you, but the attacks happen on a much wider radius than where your character is. On occasion, the circle-shaped area of effect will become brighter, signaling that Exdash is about to attack. A couple of laser beams will impact the area, hitting anyone who’s inside. The problem is that this circle is constantly moving, so you need to plan accordingly. Still, if you want to try a wildly different character, Exdash may be the right one for you. Oh, and don’t forget to unlock the Stone Mask afterwards.
