FFXIV Awoken Relic Weapon Guide: Toughening Up Quest

Your Animated Relic Weapon is tired, so it’s time to wake it up.

You’ve gained the first Anima Relic Weapon after a little leg work. This guide will cover the Awoken Weapons, the next step for the Relic Weapons introduced in the Heavensward expansion of Final Fantasy XIV. Compared to some other phases, this one will be pretty quick, especially for a high-level character. None of these weapons are best-in-slot anymore, so you’re purely doing this for your own satisfaction and for the glam. How to Unlock Your Awoken Relic Weapon

It’s time to talk to your new best friend Ardashir in Azys Lla (X: 7.4, Y: 11.5). He will give you the quest “Toughening Up.” This quest requires you to run a series of post-A Realm Reborn and Heavensward dungeons in a certain order while having your Animated Relic Weapon equipped. You can run these dungeons unsynced and only need to have the Animated Relic Weapon equipped when you leave the dungeon.

There’s a cadence to the quest, wherein you’ll meet Ardashir in a new location after completing three of the dungeons listed.

Section 1

  1. Snowcloak
  2. Sastasha (Hard)
  3. The Sunken Temple of Qarn (Hard)
  4. Talk to Ardashir in Southern Thanalan (X:24.9, Y:12.4)

Section 2

  1. Keeper of the Lake
  2. Wanderer’s Palace (Hard)
  3. Amdapor Keep (Hard)
  4. Talk to Ardashir in South Shroud (X:24.0, Y:25.0)

Section 3

  1. The Dusk Vigil
  2. Sohm Al
  3. The Aery
  4. The Vault
  5. Talk to Ardashir in The Pillars (X:10.8, Y:8.2)

 Once this line of dungeons is complete, you’ll return to Ardashir in Azys Lla (X: 7.4, Y: 11.5), who will reward you with your Awoken Relic Weapon. For this final part, you’ll need to have the Animated Weapon in your inventory, not equipped.
