At the PlayStation Experience convention in 2017 — the last of its kind — there was a small gathering of people around two TV screens shoved off to the corner of the expo hall. I tried to see what everyone was buzzing about and noticed an action game that looked like it played buttery-smooth. After waiting in line to try it, I confirmed that to be the face, and mentally logged Lost Soul Aside as a game I’m anticipating.
It’s 2021 and the game’s not out yet but it’s looking better and better every time it’s shown.
The action game was once developed by a sole developer in China named Yang Bing. After some successful demos to Sony, the platform-holder ensconced the game within its China Hero Project initiative and gave the developer more resources like, you know, a staff and money. It seems like those resources have been going to good use, as Yang Bing posted a new trailer today that shows 18 minutes of gameplay from the now-PS5 title.
The new footage features a boss fight, some exploration, being chased by a gunship, regular battles, more boss fights, and some just all-around cool action.
The game is currently announced for PS4, PS5, and PC and I wouldn’t necessarily expect that to change considering how heavily Sony is investing in the title. While the trailer lacks a release date, it would not be surprising to get one within a few days as the China PlayStation Press Conference 2021 takes place at the end of the month and will showcase the game yet again. For now, though, we just have to wait and anticipate appropriately.
