Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is officially live and it’s time to roll for initiative! Set in the Borderlands equivalent of Dungeons & Dragons, players will join explosive aficionado Tiny Tina and her crew in a game of Bunkers and Badasses. While this title retains the same shooter-looter design of the core entries, it embraces a medieval setting that constantly changes under the whims of your Bunker-Master. The Coiled Captors Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands DLC takes everything just one step further.
This expansion revolves around enhancing the endgame by increasing available “Chaos Tiers” and adding a new activity called the Mirrors of Mystery. There’s also some story content about freeing a god, but don’t expect this to be a large chunk of what you’ll be playing. This content is primarily focused on the endgame play and adding more ways to farm loot.
Unfortunately, the game is remarkably bad at explaining how to start its own first DLC. So to save you some trouble wandering aimlessly around, here’s how to begin this new content in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands!
How to Start Coiled Captors in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
To start Coiled Captors, you first need to reach the Overworld. This unlocks shortly after the tutorial. If you already have a late-game save, just head towards the area where you initially begin your Wonderlands journey. We specifically want the part of the Overworld that has green grass and the orange soda river.
Next to the glowing shrine of Mool Ah (where most players will receive their first side quest in a Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands campaign) you will see a small village. The entrance should simply read “Dreamveil Overlook.” It won’t be marked on your map the first time, so go to where my images indicate. Then interact with the entrance of the Dreamveil Overlook to enter.
Next, head down into the spooky town below, where all the creepy ghosts wander about. Ignore them for now, though. Head up the small hill instead and approach the horned, golden woman by the creepy prize wheel. This is Vesper. She will start your Coiled Captors questline for the “Mirrors of Mystery.” Speaking to her will introduce you to the Wheel of Fate and the new currency (Lost Souls), which you use to power the machine.
After you spin the wheel, Vesper will once again talk to you. This completes the quest! At this point, you can turn around 180 degrees. There should be a large mirror near Vesper — facing the wheel. In fact, there should be multiple mirrors if you bought other DLC like Glutton’s Gamble or the third Molten Mirrors dungeon. The one we want, however, is wrapped in a dragon tail. It will start to glow blue and show a pink-tinged monster if you approach.
As a note for Season Pass buyers: you might need to download the Coiled Captors DLC manually first! On PlayStation 5, for instance, the pass unlocks the DLC but does not install it by default.
Simply interact with this blue mirror and accept the quest it offers. Though brand-new players should be warned it will hit you with a minimum of Level 13 enemies right out of the gate. If you’re just starting a new game, Coiled Captors might be pretty tough, even if you unlock it now.
If this is your first time accepting a quest from the mirror, a cutscene will play before you’re dropped into the first official mission of the DLC. But after that, you can explore this area and complete your task of freeing the old god! Congratulations. You now know how to unlock the Coiled Captors DLC in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
