The full list of games coming to Ubisoft’s PC-only Uplay+ subscription service was released today, and while it’s mostly the games that you’d expect, Ubisoft does include one or two inexplicable curve balls.
For starters, every Assassin’s Creed game is available through Uplay+, including side entries like Chronicles and Freedom Cry. Tom Clancy’s games are also abundant, with headliners such as Ghost Recon Wildlands, The Division 2, and Rainbow Six: Siege Ultimate Year Four Edition leading the pack of 19 games that carry the late author’s name. That last entry, Rainbow Six: Siege, is likely to move more subscriptions than anything else on the list, as it gives immediate access to all 48 operators (read: characters), in a game where each operator normally costs $5, or enough of the player’s time to grind out 25,000 units of in-game currency.
You’ll also have access to Far Cry 2 through Far Cry 5, along with the unnumbered Far Cry games New Dawn and Primal. Both Watch Underscore Dogs are here, along with day-one access to Watch Dogs Legion when that arrives next March. There’s also Rayman games as far back as Rayman 2, all of the modern Prince of Persia titles (including the 2008 reboot), both of those South Park RPGs, and of course, Beyond Good & Evil.
And then you also get POD Gold?? I might be the only person that remembers this game, but it’s a multiplayer dystopian racer for PC that came out 22 years ago. My mom bought a Compaq Windows 95 desktop in 1997 that came with POD, since new Pentium processors that supported “MMX” instructions had just come out, and POD was one of the first games to support the chip. It was one of the only games we ever had on that computer and I played the absolute hell out of it.
For it to still exist in 2019, in a state that can presumably run on modern computers, is wild enough on its own. But for it to also be one of the very first games that Ubisoft puts on its flagship subscription service boggles the mind. My mind is completely boggled right now. Oh! And speaking of boggle, Uplay+ also comes with Monopoly and Uno. The service goes live on September 3 at a price of $14.99 per month — peep the complete list of announced games below.
