You know who loves video games? We love video games! Specifically, we love having conversations about them for all to enjoy. That’s why we’re back yet again with another episode of the Fanwidth video game podcast. Won’t you please come and join us?
Speaking of joining us, wouldn’t you know it? We have a guest again this week. Friend of the site and former Compete writer Eric Van Allen joins us to discuss the year in fighting games so far. Specifically, we dive deep on the backroom politics and public-facing drama that determines EVO. It’s the biggest fighting game tournament of the year, after all. And the absence of Super Smash Bros. Melee this year has some fans in a tizzy.
Beyond that, we talk about this year’s latest high-profile fighting game, Dead or Alive 6. The series best known for its “titillating” character designs has a bit more going on under the hood than you might expect. That being said, Eric reviewed it for Fanbyte and came away… mostly unmoved. And in non-fighting game talk, Steven also played a good chunk of Devil May Cry 5 (which also has a review up on the site). He, too, has some problems with the long-running action series’ latest entry. Lastly, merritt has a bit to say about Philip K. Dick — which inevitably launches everyone on a tangent about long-dead PC game developers from the 90s.
Be sure to check back every Wednesday for another roughly 60 minutes of pure audio goodness. And hey! If you’ve already read this far, why don’t you head on over to iTunes and give Fanwidth a rating and review? It really does help (seriously) and would mean the absolute world to us. And if you like our show, or have suggestions and questions for next episode, leave a comment below! Steven reads all of them and just might mention your query in the future.
