E3 2019 is right around the corner! And, as usual, Bethesda is bringing a slate of games to show during its E3 press briefing. It’s surely primed to be one of the highlights of the show! The studio has a lot of possible announcements this year — for series like DOOM, Wolfenstein, and more. Though one franchise in particular holds a special place in players’ hearts. The Elder Scrolls 6 is the working title for whatever game will follow the legendary Skyrim. And, naturally, everybody wants to see the first real Elder Scrolls 6 trailer, gameplay, and some real details.

That said, while the Bethesda E3 2019 press briefing will begin before E3 proper, it still hasn’t started just yet! So we don’t know quite what to expect from the major publisher. However, we can glean just a little bit of info from official details we’ve already heard, as well as rumors surrounding the Elder Scrolls 6 release date and premise.
For instance, we know that The Elder Scrolls 6 is currently not a top priority for Bethesda. Bethesda executive producer Todd Howard even cautioned Elder Scrolls fans to be “very patient” in the wait for news about the next fantasy game. The honor of the next Bethesda game actually goes to Starfield. That’s the game Bethesda feels it needs to make sooner rather than later. Though “sooner” is still pretty subjective, in this case. This is Bethesda we’re talking about, after all…
The Elder Scrolls 6 Details at E3 2019
All of which is to say that you shouldn’t expect to see The Elder Scrolls 6 just yet. Howard has further confirmed there will not even be any new Starfield trailer or more details about that game at E3 2019. That goes double for The Elder Scrolls 6 — seeing as that game is even further off than Starfield. It’s just not particularly exciting news for anyone hoping for Starfield and Elder Scrolls gameplay at E3 2019. The previous teasers for both games were extremely short and opaque, without much for fans to chew on.
Meanwhile, rumors place the Starfield release date as late as sometime in 2020, or even 2021. That theoretically gives Bethesda an entire extra E3 or two with which to tease its upcoming sci-fi game. With The Elder Scrolls 6 coming sometime after that release period… It’s safe to say we won’t see the new game at E3 2019, or even any E3 in the near future.
Even that’s assuming the trade show still exists in its current form by that time, of course. While Bethesda is maintaining a presence at E3 2019, the expo has definitely lost some of its major players — even including a hardware manufacturer like Sony.
But what else do we know about The Elder Scrolls 6? We’ll obviously know more as soon as Howard and the rest of Bethesda dole out details in future interviews. For now, though, information is sparse. All we really know is that the game will be big — like, really big. Howard has that “[The Elder Scrolls 6] is a game we need to design for people to play for a decade at least, at least.” Given how massively successful Skyrim is, even this long after the game’s initial release, that makes perfect sense. Just don’t expect to see what that scope looks like soon. It doesn’t sound like we’re getting any Elder Scrolls 6 details at E3 2019. We’ve got just a bit longer to wait until we know more!
