Bend Studio’s PlayStation 4 exclusive Days Gone has been a fixture on the gaming expo and convention scene for quite some time. So it was of some relief that E3 2018 was the platform Sony used to finally reveal the release date of this involving zombie action game: February 22, 2019.
Days Gone has looked promising ever since its reveal. Before last spring, we thought we learned all there was to know about it. Little did we know that Bend Studio had other ideas, with more trailers and gameplay unveilings leading up to and during E3.
It started this season with the Game Informer-exclusive reveal of horde mode, a game type that’s always been a popular mode of modern zombie games. Between the availability of motorcycles and the gritty aesthetic of Days Gone, some moments appeared to marry elements of Dead Rising and Alan Wake.
As E3 got closer, Sony released a new trailer. It played up the classic genre angle that humans can pose a greater threat than zombies themselves. It also reminds fans that Days Gone will lean heavily on its story to pull you in.
Another video we posted spotlighted the importance of knowing your motorcycle. We trust that substantial time with it will make the vehicle invaluable, both as a two-wheeled weapon and as the means for a quick getaway.
And as it turned out, Bend Studio emphasized this relationship with your motorcycle, to the point of describing it as another character in Days Gone.
Aside from bonding with your bike, our biggest takeaway with this recent batch of Days Gone videos is how well the game is coming along. We’re crossing fingers it’ll make its February release date, even though it’ll be a crowded month of releases.
So what zombie games are you playing to keep you occupied until Days Gone’s release? We’ll have more E3 coverage for you all week long on our Facebook page!
