We’ve covered A Plague Tale: Innocence before, but this upcoming 2019 grim adventure title from Asobo Studio and Focus Home Interactive still chills us to our waterlogged, plague-infested bones. In a new video released during E3 week, we got a closer look at the game’s characters, its heartbreakingly beautiful and haunting environments, and a little more about the story’s setting.
Watch: Everything we know thus far about A Plague Tale: Innocence:
Set in 14th century France, A Plague Tale follows a small band of siblings as they try to evade both deadly swarms of plague-infected rats and just-as-deadly templars of the Spanish Inquisition. Your only weapons are your slingshot and your lantern: by using light to steer the rats away from you and toward pursuing soldiers, you guide the siblings toward safety (however temporary). Gameplay, as a result, becomes an interaction of light and shadow, bending and shaping it to create your path and overcome your much larger and meaner adult pursuers.
While we don’t have a firm release date for A Plague Tale: Innocence beyond just “2019,” we do know that it’s slated for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
