It’s been a heck of a week! A U.S. Congressman (who only coincidentally vapes) found himself in hot water for allegedly using campaign funds on Steam games; Blizzard shut down Nostalrius, a private legacy World of Warcraft server; and Fallout 4 took top honors at last night’s BAFTA game awards. Here are some of the low-key headlines and interesting curios you may have missed from the week:
- We’re getting an official Dark Souls board game, developed by Steamforged Games (makers of Guild Ball). Don’t ready your wallets quite yet, though: the game needs to get funded through Kickstarter first. The crowdfunding campaign is expected to launch by the end of this month.
- Real Zero Escape is a brick-and-mortar escape room game based on the Zero Escape series (999, Virtue’s Last Reward and the upcoming Zero Time Dilemma). It’s opening up next week in Los Angeles, and there are still some tickets available, if you’re in the area and want to try your hand at solving a room full of puzzles with eight friends (or strangers). EiC Laura and I will be braving this one ourselves in a couple weeks’ time, so look forward to our recap!

- A woman in China was spotted praying to a statue of League of Legends champion Garen (above), supposedly mistaking him for ancient Chinese general Guan Yu. Chinese web users shared mixed reactions, with some expressing sympathy for the woman, while others praised her good intentions: “As long as your beliefs are sincere, then the true god will help you.”
- Ace Attorney was always meant to be a court procedural anime, and now it actually exists. You can start watching the first episode right away with a Crunchyroll Premium account, or in a couple days for free users.
- Romancing SaGa 2 will finally enjoy an official English localization, according to an announcement from its official Twitter. It is currently in development for iOS and Android. No release date has been set. (Thanks, Polygon.)
- We’re entering the final hours of a crowdfunding campaign for an official Mystery Science Theater 3000 reunion show. All major cast members have been confirmed for the event, including series creator Joel Hodgson. If you’re a MST fan, this would be a good one to get in on. (Disclosure: I’m a backer of this campaign myself.)
- Hardcore Henry opens in theaters today. Shot in first-person using a GoPro camera, it openly embraces the shooter genre aesthetic from top to bottom and looks to be good, low-brow, ultraviolent fun, if that’s your thing. You can expect an official ZAM review from us on Monday.
