After some leaks, WB has finally revealed its Super Smash Bros-like platform brawler called MultiVersus, and it’s coming in 2022.
The game is in development over at Player First Games, and features characters like Bugs Bunny, Harley Quinn, and Arya Stark, all beating each other up and off stages based on various WB properties. Unlike Super Smash Bros., PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale, and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, MultiVersus will be free-to-play when it launches next year. As described in the first look trailer, there will be a bigger emphasis on cooperation than its contemporaries, with some abilities like Batman’s smoke bomb and Bugs Bunny’s tunnels having team-wide utility.
Another notable feature is cross-play and cross-progression, allowing you to fight against and carry your progress over to any of the platforms MultiVersus is available on, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

My early thoughts are that the game is already hitting on a few production values that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl felt like it was missing when it launched earlier this year. Specifically in lively, vibrant menus and including voice talent with its characters like Maisie Williams as Arya, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, and Tara Strong as Harley Quinn. Whatever the actual game ends up playing like, it already feels like Warner Bros. is putting more money behind MultiVersus than it felt like Nickelodeon did with its equivalent brawler. Will the actual game be up to snuff? We’ll find out when it launches next year…but I think I’m gonna be a Harley Quinn main with this beginning roster. Hopefully, I stick with her longer than I did with Reptar in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
