Ubisoft Announces Free-to-Play Tom Clancy Shooter Days After Court Harassment Complaint

Ubisoft has announced a new free-to-play shooter set in the Tom Clancy universe called XDefiant, a class-based shooter.

The game is a 6v6 shooter with classes based on groups within the Tom Clancy stable, including Echelon, Outcasts, Cleaners, and Wolves. The game will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Stadia, and Luna. The company also confirmed a beta test will begin on August 5 for PC users, and it’s taking sign-ups right now.

Meanwhile, the company and some of its higher-ups are the subject of a French court harassment complaint following reports that employees are unhappy with the lengths Ubisoft has taken to address multiple counts of harassment and other HR complaints. This has included keeping the subjects of these same issues in positions of power, and what sounds like less than satisfactory training sessions on workplace harassment for most employees.

That news came out the same day as Ubisoft delaying Riders Republic and Rainbow Six Extraction last week, which is, admittedly, not a particularly thrilling headline either, but Ubisoft sure is trying to make the news cycle in as many ways as possible right now, huh?
