This Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Box Art Creator is Fucking Rad

Giving my Shepard's man the spotlight he deserves.

As we’ve talked about before on the site, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition’s box art is effective because it doesn’t present protagonist Commander Shepard as a default, but instead lets you envision that your version of the character exists behind their iconic helmet. Well, Bioware’s released a tool for you to personalize it even further, and I’m obsessed with it.

The custom art creator lets you pick your favorite characters, your Shepard’s morality alignment, and a location to make your own, custom version of the box art that tailors itself to your vision of the Mass Effect universe. Mine is the lead-in image above. Which made me very happy because it let me add Kaidan Alenko, my Shepard’s beau. And it also let me spotlight some of my other favorites across the series, like Miranda Lawson and Thane Krios, but they were already part of the original art. Here’s that for comparison:

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is launching on May 14 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and brings Bioware’s science fiction trilogy to modern consoles. The voice cast and a few of the Bioware developers who worked on the games are getting together to celebrate on a livestream the following day.
