The Game Awards 2021 Dated, Will be In-Person at Microsoft Theater

World premieres in close proximity to one another.

Geoff Keighley has announced the 2021 Game Awards has set a date and venue for its return to an in-person event following 2020’s digital award show last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The show will take place on Thursday, December 9, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. Now that the date is set, we’re likely going to be seeing teases about trailers and World Premieres Keighley will be showing off at the ceremony, and we’ll also be hearing nominees for its various awards. Which, I’m sure, will once again bring everyone who likes video games together as the winner of Game of the Year is something we can all collectively agree on, right?

As per usual, the show will be streamable live in December, but the actual time The Game Awards will begin has yet to be confirmed. The award show is also featuring “free playable game content and interactive extensions on leading streaming platforms,” which, if past Game Awards are any indication, means we’ll see a handful of playable demos launch to coincide with the show.

If you don’t care about the awards, the Game Awards is often filled to the brim with new trailers and game announcements. There were some big reveals last year, such as BioWare teasing the next Mass Effect game and the reveal that Final Fantasy VII’s Sephiroth would be joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster.
