Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Bungie Veterans Form New Studio That’s No Moon

The company is hiring for positions in LA and San Diego.

A supergroup of industry veterans from companies like Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Bungie, and more have come together to form a new studio called That’s No Moon Entertainment.

The team’s first game will be “an ambitious, new action-adventure game that will push the limits of both gameplay and story,” and it has a $100 million backing from South Korean developer and publisher Smilegate, the creators of the Crossfire series. Former studio narrative director at Infinity Ward and narrative design lead at Naughty Dog Taylor Kurosaki is acting as creative director, while former design director of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and lead game designer on The Last of Us Jacob Minkoff is acting director on the unnamed project.

“We started That’s No Moon with a singular vision of creating unforgettable stories and characters that will define and extend beyond our medium,” said That’s No Moon CEO Michael Mumbauer in a statement. “I’m proud to share that ambition with such a talented team of creators and our incredible partners at Smilegate.”

In other news:

That’s No Moon’s current line-up includes Mumbauer, who was previously the head of PlayStation’s Visual Arts Group, Chief Strategy Officer Tina Kowalewski, formerly of Sony Santa Monica, Kurosaki, COO and EA alum Nick Kononelos, Chief Design Officer Jacob Minkoff, ex-Bungie developer Barry Genova as chief technology officer, and George Allison as chief financial officer, previously of PlayStation.

Members of the studio are based in both Los Angeles and San Diego, and the team is hiring for several positions based in either city.
