Stardew Valley Developer Reveals New Title, Haunted Chocolatier

Live in a small town and make chocolate, live the dream.

ConcernedApe, also known outside game development as Eric Barone, is also best known as the developer of seminal farming/life sim game Stardew Valley. On Twitter today, ConcernedApe abruptly announced that he had something to reveal today, linking to an undetailed YouTube video that premiered in the afternoon.

Barone revealed a brand new game that bears a passing resemblance to his previous work titled Haunted Chocolatier. The short trailer didn’t have a lot to go on, but Barone has already posted a blog post on the game’s newly-launched website with some new info.

“In Stardew Valley, the focus was more humble: living off the land, growing food, and connecting to the people and nature around you,” Barone wrote. “However, with my next game, I wanted to explore more fantastical possibilities… experiences that take you beyond the ordinary. That’s where magical haunted ghost chocolate comes in.”

The trailer says the game is in development without a hint of a release date, but Barone indicates it is not anywhere near done. At the moment, the trailer only represents a vertical slice, so it’s still very much a moving target. Platforms aren’t mentioned, but it seems logical that anything Stardew Valley hit would be a good bet for Haunted Chocolatier.
