Two years after its original reveal at the 2019 Game Awards, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II made another appearance at the 2021 Game Awards tonight.
The new trailer has the first actual gameplay seen from the project since its debut. The first Hellblade was a mix of sword-based melee combat and puzzle solving, but Senua’s Saga seems like a pretty significant escalation of that. But Senua was also alone for most of that game. Senua’s Saga has a lot more people running about and things get pretty dire. It’s dark, dreary, and kinda scary. There’s also a big man who gets set on fire.

Senua’s Saga is one of Ninja Theory’s ongoing projects since Microsoft acquired the studio back in 2018 along with Project: Mara. More recently, the studio launched an online multiplayer combat game called Bleeding Edge, which the studio stopped releasing content updates for back in January.
