Rocksmith Returns in Ubisoft Forward

The advanced guitar game is getting a new lease on life.

Back during the plastic instrument craze of the late aughts, Ubisoft decided that there was an unfulfilled niche in the more advanced market for these games. Thus, in 2011, the publisher introduced Rocksmith, a guitar game that uses an actual guitar and acted as more of a learning and practice tool than its contemporaries like Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

Ten years later, it looks like Ubisoft wants to revive the halcyon days of keeping a guitar in front of your TV for some reason with the brand new Rocksmith+. Like Ubisoft games often do, this title also leaked a little early through a Gibson email blast this morning. But the actual trailer is a bit soft-spoken and calming, encouraging using the large music library for learning and practicing the guitar.

If that weren’t enough, Rocksmith+, the subscription software service also comes with help videos and allows you to use your phone as a microphone.  An early beta is taking registrations now for players eager to jump in and try.
