Please Watch This Video of Bernie Sanders Modded Into Resident Evil 7

You read the title. You know exactly why you’re here. But let me explain. I was having a normal weekend until I stumbled across this video on Twitter. Yes, ancient proverb. A tale as old as time. But please just look at this viral video of Bernie Sanders modded as Jack Baker in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

In Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, you are Ethan Winters, a man searching for his wife Mia in a derelict plantation located in Dulvey, Louisiana. It is occupied by the Bakers, an infected family that captures Ethan not long after he arrives. When Ethan manages to escape, he is pursued by the incredibly violent and powerful Jack. That is the sequence you can see above, in which Bernie Sanders has been modded into to replace Jack.

It gets even better, though. This Twitter clip is a TikTok from YouTuber ToastedShoes, who created the video from which this clip is made of. On Jan. 28, ToastedShoes uploaded a 16-minute video called, “I modded the Bernie Sanders Meme into EVERY Game.”

“I hit up my boy Joe Mashups,” he says in the video. “I got him to make a highly-detailed Bernie Sanders sitting model. I contacted the best modders in the entire gaming community and we set to work on seeing how many games we could mod Bernie Sanders into.”

Among the games the Bernie Sanders sitting model is modded into throughout the video are Starwars Battlefront 2, Skyrim, Devil May Cry 5, and, yes, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. In the latter game, he’s actually modded as every member of the Baker family, but it’s this sequence of him as Jack Baker, chasing you around the household, that shines as possibly the most hilarious situation. I say possibly only because the Abzu section is truly unmatched. Watching a model of Bernie Sanders sitting in a chair just gliding through the most gorgeous underwater vistas as the music crescendos — it’s the kind of thing you need to see to believe it.

If you use the internet even casually, it’s hard to escape this particular Bernie Sanders meme. On Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, 2021, Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont) sat in the bleachers on Capitol Hill. He, along with the rest of the nation, waited to see Joe Biden sworn in as the new president of the United States of America.

Seeing Biden sworn in was a welcome sight for many after the last four years under the Trump administration. And yet, even a new president getting sworn in could not rival the explosive cultural impact of Bernie Sanders sitting in a chair, donning mittens and the famous brown coat you’ll see in another famous Bernie Sanders meme known as the, “I am once again asking” meme. With his legs and arms crossed, face unamused and radiating “can this please be over” energy, the image — originally shot by Brendan Smialowski, a photojournalist who covers politics for Agence France-Presse — immediately went viral.

“I was just sitting there, trying to keep warm and trying to pay attention to what was going on,” explained Sanders on the Seth Meyers show after he became aware of the meme.

I wonder how long it’ll take him to see this video of him being modded into various high-profile video games. I hope he finds it funny. I hope that, as much as I already adore Lady Dimitrescu in the upcoming eighth mainline Resident Evil game, Resident Evil: Village, there will be mods of him, too. There is only one thing I could love as much as being chased by a hot tall vampire lady and her hot witch daughters throughout the castle: it’s being chased by a sitting Bernie Sanders.
