The PlayStation Store Leaks Another Game, Tactics Ogre: Reborn

It seems Tactics Ogre is getting a remake.

The fires of war are lighting up the kingdom of Valeria again. Quest Corporation may be gone, but Tactics Ogre will seemingly live again. The news comes from a pretty official source too.

Earlier today, the PlayStation Store revealed Tactics Ogre: Reborn. The game appeared in an entry on the store, being noticed by the entire internet before being unceremoniously removed. Unlike last week’s PlayStation Store leak of The Last of Us Part I, the remake of the first The Last of Us, this store entry was light on details. The only detail available is Square Enix as the publisher, of course. Given that it’s a PlayStation Store leak, the game is coming to one of the PlayStation consoles, but hopefully, PC, Nintendo Switch, or Xbox Series release isn’t too far behind.

Tactics Ogre Reborn PlayStation Leak

The store page did feature a new piece of artwork, seemingly from original artist Akihiko Yoshida. The art shows lead character Denam Pavel in a war council with some of his supporting cast, including his sister Catiua, Vyce, and the winged Canopus.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of this project. A new trademark under this name was registered by Square Enix back in April of this year. That followed a 2021 leak from Nvidia, when dataminers found a number of unannounced game titles in a GeForce Now update. This list included “Tactics Ogre Remaster,” pointing to this game. At the time, Nvidia said the list was speculative and only used for “internal tracking and testing.” Since then, some announcements and releases have proven the list to be prescient if it was only speculative.

There’s no indication of the full scope of Tactics Ogre: Reborn. There were no screenshots included with the store entry. Square Enix already released Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together in 2011 and could make folks happy by simply re-releasing that. The name points to something a bit more robust, however. Even something along the lines of Triangle Strategy would be an improvement.
