PlayStation Plus is Getting Fall Guys So I Can Fall Into the Abyss, Too

Call of Duty is also here.

We here at Fanbyte have been having a big ol’ time with Fall Guys. Well…everyone except for me, that is.

Fall Guys went into beta this past weekend on PC. The game was a hit for Twitch streamers, amassing over 100k viewers and cracking the top ten most-viewed games on the service. It’s easy to see the appeal, as the silliness of it all makes it a ton of fun to watch, as well as play. You and 59 others all stand on disappearing platforms, running around for seconds of solid ground to walk on as each of your competitors falls to the next level, and the next level, and the next level. Eventually, there won’t be any ground for you to fall onto, and that’s when you lose the game. It’s frantic, which makes it a joy to watch as everyone scurries for what few pieces of floor are left. Or in some cases, falls to their immediate doom:

There are also obstacle courses which makes staying on platforms even tougher. It just looks like a lot of dumb fun. Unfortunately, as I don’t have a gaming PC (I will only have one if Henry Cavill builds it for me), I was unable to join in on the beta. But Sony has announced Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is coming to PlayStation Plus subscribers next month, and I am one of those, so I’ll finally get my chance to fall into the abyss like everybody else. Fall Guys supports crossplay between platforms, so not only will there be a huge influx of people playing on PlayStation 4, but they’ll be playing with PC players, as well. PlayStation players won’t be getting the weird costume of Gordon Freeman from Half-Life, however.

In other news:

Along with Fall Guys, August’s other PlayStation Plus game will be the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, which is also fairly new, as it launched exclusively on PlayStation 4 back in March before it came to other platforms in April. Fall Guys will be available to download for free for Plus subscribers from August 4 to August 31, and Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered will go up a little bit earlier tomorrow, July 28, and will revert to paid status alongside Fall Guys on August 31.

Once these games are free for Plus subscribers, they’ll replace the July games, which are still available for free download for anyone paying the monthly fee. Those include NBA2K20, Lara Croft in Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, and Erica.

Also worth noting: Sony has announced alongside these games that the company will be holding a free multiplayer weekend in two weeks, allowing anyone to play online multiplayer games for free, even if they’re not subscribed to PlayStation Plus. The free multiplayer period will last from Saturday, August 8 at 12:01 a.m. to Sunday, August 9 at 11:59 p.m. during your local time.
