Nintendo held another Indie World Showcase today, spotlighting some upcoming independent games coming to the Nintendo Switch. While some of these are still months away, a handful are coming to Nintendo’s handheld/console hybrid later today. If you want to just watch the show, you can do that right here. For everyone else, check out our recap below.
Spelunky and Spelunky 2
The Spelunky series is coming to the Switch in the summer of next year. Given the game’s challenging nature and how much it lends itself to pick up and play, both are well-suited for the system’s handheld mode. Just don’t throw it if you repeatedly lose during either game’s procedurally generated levels.
If you ever wanted to see a competitive brawler made up of cats who cause wanton destruction in their house when their owners aren’t home, Fisti-Fluffs will do that for you on Switch early next year.
Very Very Valet
Very Very Valet, a very hammy game about doing your best to park a car when the environment you’re driving through is constantly challenging you with absurd obstacles, will be available on Switch as a timed exclusive to the platform in early 2021.
Tunche is a side-scrolling beat ’em up with a hand drawn style, featuring five characters with different playstyles and abilities in search of the titular beast. It will launch on Switch in March as a timed exclusive.
Cyber Shadow is launching on Switch on January 26 of next year, and will allow you to use the Shovel Knight amiibo figure on the system to receive an assist from the man himself.
Our first “available today” moment of the showcase, cat cafe simulator Calico is coming to Switch before day’s end.
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure is all about being an environmentalist and helping to save an island by cleaning up the beaches and nurturing wildlife back to health. It will come to Switch in spring of next year.
Gnosia is a visual novel that kind of seems like a story-driven version of Among Us, as you suss out which member of a your crew is an imposter. Playthroughs will take anywhere from five to 15 minutes, with a different character being an imposter at a time. It will come to Switch in early 2021.
Happy Game is anything but, as its spin on psychological horror shows a young boy living through his dreams that very quickly become nightmares. Was kind of a dark moment for the presentation, but it ended confirming the game would be coming to Switch next Spring.
Super Meat Boy Forever
The sequel to the beloved platformer is coming to Switch next week on December 23, and it will be a timed console exclusive.
The second “available today” moment came with Grindstone, as the puzzle game is available on Nintendo Switch now.
