New Pokemon Legends: Arceus Trailer Reveals Hisui Variants for Zorua and Zoroark

The found footage trailer has been cleaned up.

Earlier this week, Game Freak and The Pokemon Company released a distorted found footage trailer that hinted at the reveal of a new Pokemon that would debut in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Today, a new version of the trailer has been released with a cleaned-up image, revealing the Pokemon in question is actually a Hisui regional variant of Zorua and Zoroark, and it seems to thrive in the cold mountains of the region.

Regional variants debuted in Pokemon Sun and Moon, which had different versions of previously discovered Pokemon based on environmental factors. This included examples like the Alolan Rattata becoming nocturnal and adapting into a Dark form or the Galarian Corsola turning into a Ghost-type due to changes in the ocean’s temperature wiping out the standard Water-type version. Yeah, it can get pretty dark. The Hisui regional variants all kind of have a cloud hanging over them, as Hisui is what will eventually become known as Sinnoh in the modern-day, hinting at the strong possibility that these variants went extinct for some reason. As for Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark, there’s no concrete information yet on why the Pokemon lived in the mountains and seems to have adapted to the snowy weather there. But given then context clues, it stands to reason they’ve become an Ice-type Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: ArceusUpdate: According to Pokemon fansite Serebii, Zorua and Zoroark are Normal and Ghost-type in the Hisui region.
