Because the world is still on fire and digital events are the only way for us to learn anything new about video games right now, Square-Enix has announced it’s holding a new event called Square-Enix Presents on March 18 at 10 a.m. Pacific. And it looks like there might be at least one significant announcement: the next iteration of the Life is Strange series will be unveiled.
While not much is known about the next Life is Strange, the official Twitter account for the series confirms it will feature a new cast, and a new superhuman ability at its center. This means it won’t see the return of Max and Chloe from the original game, or the Diaz brothers from 2019 Game of the Year, Actually Life is Strange 2. Notably, there’s no confirmation here about whether the game is being developed internally by Dontnod Entertainment, or perhaps Deck Nine Games, which made prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm.
Alongside the next Life is Strange, the 40-minute presentation will also include updates on the following:
- Marvel’s Avengers
- Tomb Raider’s 25th anniversary
- New games from Square-Enix’s Montreal studio
- Just Cause Mobile
- Balan Wonderworld
Debuting March 18 at 10AM PDT, the first digital-direct #SquareEnixPresents the world premiere of the next @LifeisStrange, with a 40-min lineup set of new trailers & announcements from many of our upcoming titles https://t.co/IgHkawSCaE pic.twitter.com/VNYDFdoikR

Unfortunately, there’s no mention of any Final Fantasy news here. While there’s a possibility that something like Final Fantasy XVI of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade could make a surprise appearance, that’s the kind of name you put on your announcement if you want people to tune in. So let’s adjust our expectations accordingly.
Beyond that, maybe we’ll finally see the long-rumored Wakanda expansion for Marvel’s Avengers? Also, isn’t it about time we saw that PlayStation-exclusive Spider-Man DLC? Give me something beyond Hawkeye, Square.
