ICYMI: Everything Shown at Guerrilla Collective’s Summer 2022 Showcase

The indie game show kicked off another day of summer presentations.

The never-ending week of video game showcases continues today with the Guerrilla Collective: an indie-centric show that led the charge today on June 11. If you missed the show (or would just rather quickly scroll through a recap of what went down), you’re in luck! Because we have the rundown of the whole show right here. Shoutout to GameTrailers, too. They conveniently put all these trailers in one spot so I could deliver them to you fine folks.

From Space – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Kicking off the show was From Space. It’s a colorful, cutesy, top-down shooter coming to Steam, Stadia, and Switch this fall.

I Was a Teenage Exocolonist – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Up next was I Was a Teenage Exocolonist: a deck-builder, social sim, and survival/management game all-in-one. It’s coming to Steam on August 25, 2022.

Ugly – Guerrilla Collective 2022

After leading with a bunch of portraits covered in neon pink Dangaronpa blood, horror-puzzle platformer Ugly showed some spooky shit in its vibrant, colorful style. The game will launch in 2023 on Steam.

Boundary – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Boundary is literal space shooter. You play astronauts shooting each other in zero gravity. The game also showcased new skins coming to its upcoming beta this summer.

Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Next was Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms, which is coming to early access at the end of the month on June 30.

Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle – Guerrilla Collective 2022

As we’ve seen a trend of a lot of studios making games that look like Dead Space this year, Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle leans harder into Resident Evil 4 and other Resident Evil games. So it’s still a throwback, but somehow more refreshing in the face of people trying to ride Isaac Clarke’s coat tails. The game also appears to be a sequel (or a prequel?) to Daymare: 1998.

Signalis – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Keeping with the spooky vibes is another top-down shooter/adventure game Signalis. The game is split between isometric action sequences (think the PlayStation 1 Resident Evil and Silent Hill games) with a bit of first-person exploration. It’s coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch on October 27.

Gravewood High – Guerrilla Collective 2022

We really are just putting all the scary shit in one block during these showcases, huh? Next up is hide-and-seek horror game Gravewood High, which is already out in Early Access. Yet it’s getting cooperative multiplayer this summer.

Madison – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Madison led with an atmospheric trailer of exploring and taking photos of a seemingly abandoned b uilding that turns out to be not that abandoned. There was a toilet that was locked up in jail for some reason. They used bolt cutters to free it from its chains. It’s coming to PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch on July 8.

The Fridge is Red – Guerrilla Collective 2022

The Fridge is Red seems to be going for a PlayStation aesthetic, and I guess that’s effective, because it means your brain has to fill in the gaps of all its horror like the olden days. A demo is available now on Steam.

Industria – Guerrilla Collective 2022

If I didn’t know better I would have thought Industria was a Fallout game, with its barren wasteland of an environment, but as the trailer went on, it became more clear it was leaning into what seems to be some paranormal aspects. It’s out now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

South of the Circle – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Okay, we’re finally away from the spooky hour and talking about narrative adventure game set in Antarctica called South of the Circle. Thematically, it will lean into the ways our memories of events change over time. It’s coming to consoles (that was as specific as they got) and PC.

This War of Mine: Final Cut – Guerrilla Collective 2022

If you don’t know about This War of Mine eight years after launch, it’s a survival game focused on the affects of civilians on wars. The Final Cut brings new content, including new characters, scenarios, and locations.

The Last Worker – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Next is The Last Worker, a first-person narrative game about what would happen if you were the last human worker in an automated capitalistic nightmare. Definitely not something applicable to the capitalistic nightmare we already live in. No, sir. It’s coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Switch, PC, and Meta Quest 2 this year.

Slope Crashers – Guerrilla Collective 2022

For a complete change in tone, we next focus on animal snowboard racer Slope Crashers. It looks cute, has some pretty elaborate mode modifiers, and lets you do sick flips. And that’s tight as fuck.

Cassette Beasts – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Speaking of animals doing cool shit, Cassette Beasts is a pixel art RPG all about merging and morphing creatures into new, more powerful creatures and making them fight. It’s coming to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Contract Killer – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Four-player beat-em-up Contract Killer is next, which has you playing as sentient writing utensils in a stylish, pixel art brawler. It’s out on PC, and is coming to Switch and Xbox this summer.

Rytmos – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Musical puzzle game Rytmos is all about rotating a figure like a Rubix cube, all to move platforms and fixtures around to create lovely music. It’s coming to iOS, Android, Switch and PC.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge – Guerrilla Collective 2022

If you haven’t heard of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge by now, you must’ve been withdrawn into your shell. The stylish beat-em-up based on beloved franchise is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch on June 16.

Skald: Against the Black Priory – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Skald Against the Black Priory harkens back to retro, classic RPGs, and is coming to PC later this year.

BATS: Bloodsucker Anti-Terror Squad – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Keeping with the pixel art theme but taking it to very different place is bloody, sidescrolling action game BATS: Bloodsucker Anti-Terror Squad. It’s already out, but just got a physical edition on June 7.

Arkanoid: Eternal Battle – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Up next is a modernized version of Arkanoid called Arkanoid Eternal Battle. It has a gorgeous modern aesthetic and multiplayer up to 25 players at a time in a battle royale style mode. It’s coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch in October.

Nine Years of Shadows – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Nine Years of Shadows is a pixel art action game along the lines of Castlevania, which (after it brings some color to its world a few seconds into the trailer) looks gorgeous in motion. It’s coming to Steam in Q4 2022.

WrestleQuest – Guerrilla Collective 2022

One of the most eye-catching premises of the show is Wrestle Quest, which is a wrestling RPG. The turn-based game is exactly what it sounds like. Your party is made up of a wrestlers and the combat adapts wrestling concepts into RPG mechanics. That sounds pretty cool. The game is set to launch later this year on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch.

Zoeti – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Described as a “Poker-based roguelike,” Zoeti is a fantasy game with a combat system based in the card game. It’s coming to PC and Switch.

Montage – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Next we saw a montage of several games, including Grid Force: Mask of the GoddessLive by the Sword TacticsNecroboy: Path to Evilship, all of which are coming this summer from Gravity Indie Games.

Alterium Shift – Guerrilla Collective 2022

If you’re looking for an SNES-era-styled RPG, Alterium Shift is basically exactly what you’d expect from your Chrono Trigger and SNES Final Fantasy-like. It’s coming to PC and consoles, with a PC demo coming in Q3 2022.

Greedventory – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Greedventory, which looks like a mash-up of a bunch of different themes and aesthetics mashed up into a pixel art RPG, is coming to PC.

Keylocker: Turn Based Cyberpunk Action – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Shoutout to Keylocker: Turn-Based Cyberpunk Action, for just having a title that acts as a descriptor, because that means I’ve got less to write. Looks neat! It’s coming to Steam.

Symphony of War – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Symphony of War looks like a spiritual successor to the Langrisser series of tactical RPGs. That means it looks a lot like Fire Emblem, but you control large squads of units instead of individual characters. It’s also already out on PC right now!

Batora – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Next was an extended look at the fantasy action game Batora. It’s coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch this fall.

Asterigos: Curse of the Stars – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Another fantasy action game, though more character action-based than the top down action of Batora. It’s also coming in the fall to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

XEL – Guerrilla Collective 2022

And we’re still going, and the next game is XEL, which is coming to Steam this summer. It’s bringing with it a sci-fi setting compared to the fantasy games it’s being sandwiched between.

Spells & Secrets – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Because we’re all looking for our Harry Potter replacement, Spells & Secrets is all about learning how to use your magic in both combat and sports scenarios. So that’s fun. It also lets you create your own character, so I’m all in on this shit. It’s coming to Switch and PC “soon.”

Ah shit, I’m dissociating. *slaps face*

River Tails: Stronger Together – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Next up is a colorful, cooperative platformer about a fish and cat who have to navigate each other’s worlds on land and underwater as they try to make progress. That’s a really cute concept. The game will come to PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure – Guerrilla Collective 2022

The town/resource management/tower defense game is going into a PC open beta on June 17, and will come to Early Access later in the summer. It’s also coming to Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Time on Frog Island – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Keeping with the management and wildlife theme was Time on Frog Island, which is coming to PC and consoles next month on July 12.

Frogun – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Oh, look! More frogs. Frogun is a puzzle platformer where your character uses a frog gun to grapple onto surfaces and enemies to navigate its world. It also has a PlayStation era art style that looks different from the usual brand of lo-fi horror games we’ve been seeing a lot lately. Think Mega Man Legends with a dash of Gurumin instead.

I Am Future – Guerrilla Collective 2022

I Am Future is a survival and management sim about a rugged. bearded gentleman trying to make it work during the post-apocalypse. It’s coming to PC later this year.

Flat Eye – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Games about capitalism and customer service always find a way to activate my trauma response from my time working retail. Flat Eye is all about building a corporation’s brand and expansion to various other industries as you manage one of their locations. It’s coming to PC this year.

Garden In – Guerrilla Collective 2022

On a less stressful note is planting and gardening sim Garden In, which just seems like a whole vibe. Thank you to the developers and the organizers of the Guerrilla Collective for giving me these precious seconds to peacefully write about the game they’re showing. It’s coming to PC.

Witch Strandings – Guerrilla Collective 2022

This team brought out a live-action trailer. We are really pulling out all the stops at the end of the show. And it looks like the game will suck you into its world literally and your poor mother will be left to wonder what happened to you. It’s coming to PC on July 7.

Monster Outbreak – Guerrilla Collective 2022

And another game about trying to survive on an island and doing tower defense and management stuff as we near the end of the showcase (allegedly). Oh dope, this one has co-op, so someone else can help you manage all this stress. It’s coming to PC on August 25.

The Cub – Guerrilla Collective 2022

The last segment begins with The Cub, a gorgeous, but desolate sidescrolling adventure game. A demo is out now on Steam. The full game will come to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch.

Mira: The Legend of the Djinns – Guerrilla Collective 2022

While the last game seemed most exploration-based, the next gorgeous sidescrolling game leans into the action as Mira: The Legend of the Djinns gets a new trailer showing off its fast-paced combat. The game is coming to PC.

Rain World: Downpour – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Next up was a showcase of the new content coming to Rain World through its Downpour DLC, including new playable characters, areas to explore, and a significant amount of quality-of-life changes.

Exo One – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Exo One is another game I’m gonna shout out just as being a vibe in the midst of the non-stop trailers this showcase has been bombarding me with as I write this recap. The exploration game lets you soar over different landscapes and natural elements. It’s out now on Xbox and PC, but is coming to PS4 and PS5 this year.

Shashingo: Learn Japanese with Photography – Guerrilla Collective 2022

Speaking of vibes, Shashingo: Learn Japanese with Photography is all about taking photos and learning Japanese. Who among us doesn’t love educational games? The jazzy music also is pulling me in. What a lovely way to end the show.
