Fans of the Soulslike-Metroidvania Hollow Knight have been heavily anticipating the game’s sequel, Silksong, and any crumb of news they can get. After every Nintendo Indie Direct, Team Cherry’s upcoming title seems to trend on Twitter with people bemoaning its absence. After a recent EDGE cover story, fans were hoping for release date news sooner rather than later. That does not appear to be the case.
“Hey guys! I just wanted to pop in and let you know that Team Cherry does not have any announcements/blogs scheduled for E3 this year,” an announcement from Team Cherry’s marketing point person, Matthew Griffin, reads after being posted in the official Discord.
Silksong was first developed as a DLC expansion to the critically-acclaimed Hollow Knight, but Team Cherry found that their ambitions for the game outsized the framework of being an expansion. In February 2019, they informed fans that Silksong would actually be a full sequel. It does not look like we’ll be finding out when that full sequel drops for at least a little while longer, though.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is currently targeting Nintendo Switch and PC.
