Activision-Blizzard Faces Another Lawsuit Regarding Sexism and Discrimination Within the Company

The company's toxic work environment continues to unravel.

Activision-Blizzard is facing yet another lawsuit regarding the treatment of workers within the company, alleging “rampant sexism” within the publisher and its studios.

Bloomberg Law reports the suit has been filed by the Los Angeles County Superior Court on behalf of a female employee called “Jane Doe” in the document. Doe is being represented by attorney Lisa Bloom, who held a press conference and posted about the allegations online back in December.  The summary of the lawsuit is it alleges Activision-Blizzard has allowed “rampant sexism, harassment, and discrimination “against its female employees, specifically citing ” excessive workplace drinking which fostered unwanted sexual advances to female employees, banter about male employees’ sexual encounters, rape jokes, and groping of female employees’ breasts and bodies.” It even name drops CEO Bobby Kotick for good measure. Beyond the broad strokes, the suit names Mark Skorupa, Derek Ingalls, Ben Kilgore, Sonal Patel, and Danny Nguyen as individuals responsible for harassment that happened in the company’s IT department, which the suit goes into detail about. Doe also alleges her attempts to report these situations to human resources have been met with retaliation, including being passed over for a promotion. To anyone who’s been following the Activision-Blizzard saga over the past year, this all sounds par for the course. The company has been dealing with a lawsuit put forth by the State of California since July of last year. In the months that followed, there’s been a fair amount of public fallout.
