All the Asexual Characters in Video Games: A Review

All the Asexual Video Game Characters

As an ace, I decided to look back at all the major asexual video game characters for Pride Month. This won't take very long.

  • Parvati in The Outer Worlds
  • Maya in Borderlands 2
  • Mordin in Mass Effect 2, I guess?
  • Your kid in South Park: The Fractured But Whole
  • Apparently The Riddler in Batman: Arkham Knight is ace, so shoutout to Edward Nygma
  • That's it. That's all the major asexual video game characters.
  • No, Master Chief and Agent 47 don't count. Those are side effects.
  • Daud from Dishonored is a maybe. I'd prefer Emily but Daud is fine... He's just fine...
  • I get aces make up a small majority of the population, but fuck, really? Five?
  • If I were a betting man I'd put my money on an Ape Escape remake before we see another asexual character

  1. Most of these characters aren’t canonically asexual, with the exception of The Doom Slayer in the 2016 Doom reboot, these are just my personal opinion. But most of these characters are either coded asexual or show signs of asexuality. The Doom Slayer expresses no interest in sex or romance and passes the his free time reading, gaming, playing music, and mourning the loss of his recent pet rabbit. Gordon Freeman from Half-Life is similar. Garrett from Thief never shows interest in women he meets, only ever communicating professionally. Morgan Yu from the 2017 version of Prey is not aromantic. But they, like many of Arkane’s characters, are either confirmed ace or coded ace. Also Amanda Ripley. It’s always shooter or horror characters.
