How to Unlock All Operator Mastery Skins in Call of Duty: Vanguard

The latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise has officially been released and it’s taking us back to World War II… again. Delivering the same big-budget, globe-trotting campaign that the series helped refine, Call of Duty: Vanguard also brings back its classic, frantic multiplayer experience. Similar to other entries in the franchise, players can select from a handful of unique characters called Operators. Each operator has their own personality, backstory, and preferred weapon. While unlocking the Operators themselves is pretty straightforward, obtaining the Mastery skins will require a bit more work.

How to Unlock Operator Mastery Skins

In order to unlock the Operator Mastery skins, you need to hit level 20 for each Operator in that specific faction. This means that if you want the Mastery skin for Shigenori, you will need to hit level 20 on Shigenori, Solange, and Polina because they are a part of the Shadow faction. To unlock an Operator, you need to complete the challenge associated with them such as getting 200 Marksman Rifle kills or getting 10 kills with Killstreaks. While these are simple, expect them to take a bit of time if you are casually playing.

After you unlock an Operator, you will have multiple challenges associated with that character. You’ll need to complete these to unlock the various levels and cosmetics associated with that Operator. Each one has around six base skins apiece, but none of them are as flashy as the Mastery skin. Upon completing all the challenges and climbing to level 20, you will effectively “complete” that Operator’s reward chain. You will then need to do the same for the rest of the characters in that faction.

Keep in mind: Mastery skins have no actual gameplay advantage. These are just skins, so don’t feel like you need to grind out for them. You should prioritize just unlocking all the Operators in a specific faction and the various weapons. There are a solid amount of firearms in Call of Duty: Vanguard, so you’ll want to familiarize yourself with most of them. After all, it won’t take long until a meta emerges and a few guns reign supreme. Making sure you have every gun available will definitely ease any headaches.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is the first major new release following the lawsuits aimed at Activision-Blizzard. Since then, there have been walkouts, calls for the resignation of higher-ups within Activision-Blizzard, and the firing of around 20 employees as part of investigations. On top of this, there have been reports of threats to organizing employees and shredding of evidence that would have indicted those who were being accused of abuse within the company. On the game development side, both World of Warcraft and Overwatch have been updated to remove references of employees named in the lawsuit.
