Sony and Guerilla Games are holding another State of Play presentation on Thursday focusing on Horizon Forbidden West.
The actual gameplay footage will be preceded by a “uniquely crafted countdown” based on the game, starting at 9 a.m. Pacific Time. The countdown will last for five hours, ending at 2 p.m. Pacific Time when the actual Horizon Forbidden West content begins. The segment will be 20-minutes-long, bringing roughly 14 minutes of new gameplay and footage of the sequel.
Horizon Forbidden West was revealed last year during the PlayStation 5 reveal event. While it is largely associated with the PS5 because of that, the game is actually coming to both PS4 and PS5 when it launches later this year. Maybe we’ll see a release date during the show, as the game is sort of vibing in the Q3/Q4 2021 window without anything more specific.

Earlier this year, Sony offered Horizon Zero Dawn as a free game as part of its “Play at Home” initiative. It was meant to keep people in their homes during the pandemic by giving them games to play instead of going outside. And it also seems like it was a way to get more people to play Aloy’s first adventure, which means there are also a lot more people who might be looking forward to Horizon Forbidden West.
While State of Play has kind of been Sony’s answer to Nintendo Directs, several of these shows have been dedicated to one game as of late. The last one was for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which, if you missed that, you could check out our recap right here.
