Flying Unlocked in 8.2

Take to the skies in Patch 8.2, unlocking the ability to fly in Kul Tiras, Zandalar, Nazjatar, and Mechagon. Check out the requirements in our Pathfinder Guide and your personal progress in our Flying Tracker.

Nazjatar – The Land of Queen Azshara

Catastrophe strikes after the Battle of Dazar’alor, and you find yourself at the bottom of the ocean as Queen Azshara’s honored guest. Nazjatar is one of the new zones coming in Rise of Azshara, intended to take the best parts of previous outdoor content and fuse them together, such as rare spawns and mini-events from the Timeless Isle. You’ll need to complete Nazjatar to unlock important things like the Heart Forge for Essences, as well as criteria for BFA Pathfinder.

Mechagon – Steampunk Fantasy

In contrast to Nazjatar, Mechagon is a densely packed zone filled with gadgets, Mechagnomes, gears, and all sorts of mechanical secrets to learn through Junkyard Tinkering.

Heart of Azeroth Essences

This is the big one. At the start of Battle for Azeroth, Blizzard introduced the Azerite system, which players found a bit empty after the elaborate Artifact system in Legion. The Essence system in Rise of Azshara is Blizzard’s attempt to rejuvenate gear in Battle for Azeroth, where each Essence unlocks transformative combat perks–plus some really cool visuals.

Every class specialization has a different set of Essences to target, and Wowhead’s class writers have provided Essence recommendations for all specs:

So Many Crafting Updates

In this patch, the profession skill cap is raised from 150 to 175, and with that comes a number of new recipes such as crafted gear, stronger consumables, and new enchants.

Gnome and Tauren Heritage Armor

Heritage Armor isn’t just for Allied Races–now in Patch 8.2, Gnomes and Tauren receive special armor upon completing a series of story quests. It’s an especially-emotional quest for the Tauren, who previously had to save Baine from Sylvanas in the new step of the War Campaign.
