The Best Teams in Genshin Impact for Patch 1.3 (March 2021)

More like Ganyu Impact

There are a few different ways to approach building your team in Genshin Impact. You can go with what every reports as is the best, assuming you have all of the necessary characters, or you can make the best team with what you do have. For the latter, we recommend checking out our upcoming character tier lists which will rank the best characters for each role. If you’re simply looking for the best available teams on the current Genshin Impact Patch 1.3, however, you’re in the right place.

As a forewarning, the best teams usually aren’t cheap. Not only do they contain lots of 5-Star characters, but they can also be reliant on constellation unlocks, rare weapons, or god-roll artifacts. That said, we’ll try to keep this list generic and give you warnings about these things as appropriate.

Best Genshin Impact Teams for Patch 1.3

We’ve put together this tier list using a combination of our own experiences, reactions from the Genshin Impact community, builds we’ve seen from the Genshin YouTube community, and other resources like this popular Google doc.

S-Tier Genshin Impact Teams

As it stands, Ganyu is the best primary DPS character out there. She’s far better than every other character at dealing targeted damage with charged attacks and can also keep up with the best AOE damagers thanks to her abilities.

Ganyu Freeze Team

As a warning, this team composition uses Xingqiu, who needs to be Constellation Level 6 to unlock his true potential. The goal is to keep enemies permanently frozen using Xingqiu’s abilities which give everyone’s attacks Hydro power alongside what they would normally have. With this, Ganyu can freeze enemies herself! Chongyun is simply there to add more damage with his abilities while Bennett will buff attack damage with his inspiration fields.

  • Main DPS: Ganyu
  • Secondary DPS: Xingqiu
  • Sub DPS: Chongyun
  • Support: Bennett

Ganyu Melt Team

The appeal behind this team composition is it frees up your support slot to run Venti. This way you can group up enemies with his ultimate, throw down Xiangling’s Gouba, drop Bennett’s damage buff field, and go to town as Ganyu.

  • Main DPS: Ganyu
  • Secondary DPS: Xiangling
  • Sub DPS: Bennett
  • Support: Venti

Burn Squad

I’m going to loop these three team compositions together because they’re all trying to do the same thing. The only difference is which Pyro Main DPS they use. Which one you select is almost entirely personal preference. When it comes to your Sub DPS, choose either Hydro or Cryo depending on if you want the Melt or Vaporize reaction.

Just keep in mind that Bennett becomes much more useful at Constellation Level 1 as this removes the HP restriction on his attack buff.

  • Main DPS: Diluc, Klee, or Hu Tao
  • Secondary DPS: Bennett
  • Sub DPS: Ganyu or Xingqiu (If you’re on a budget you can use Fischl or Chongyun as well)
  • Support: Diona

Mona Hydro Team

On the Hydro front you can go either Mona or Tartaglia, the team comp doesn’t change too much. If you do go with Tartaglia, however, run Mona as the sub DPS instead of Xingqiu. As a note, however, Tartaglia is an expensive character that needs as many Constellation levels as possible and may not compare to Mona until then. Because of that we’ve removed him from the default comp, but you can unlock higher amounts of DPS with him.

  • Main DPS: Mona
  • Secondary DPS: Fischl
  • Sub DPS: Xingqiu
  • Support: Bennett

A-Tier Genshin Impact Teams

You can honestly get away with a lot in Genshin Impact. With the right tools, most characters can prosper. If you’re looking for something that isn’t Cryo or Pyro, this is where you’ll find it.

Keqing Electro Team

Unfortunately for you Electro fans out there, it’s generally accepted that Keqing is the most viable user available at the moment. Fischl doesn’t really compare and is necessary for your secondary DPS slot.

  • Main DPS: Keqing
  • Secondary DPS: Fischl
  • Sub DPS: Xingqiu
  • Support: Bennett

Ningguang Geo Team

This is the team I’m currently running. Ningguang can do an incredible amount of damage when paired with another Geo user. I’m fond of Zhongli because of his survivability and the shields he provides though you can also use Albedo. Your Sub DPS can be basically anything you want. I went with Fischl because she’s leveled up for me and can passively deal damage with her abilities. Finally I picked Diona because I wanted to have a high amount of healing on hand.

  • Main DPS: Ningguang
  • Secondary DPS: Zhongli or Albedo
  • Sub DPS: Fischl
  • Support: Diona

Venti Anemo Team

While a lot of folks, myself included, normally consider Venti to be a support since he’s a great addition to any team, he can also be a DPS. Just combine him with another Anemo user, throw in a sub DPS that you mainly use for abilities, and add a support you like for a really solid team comp.

  • Main DPS: Venti
  • Secondary DPS: Jean or Sucrose
  • Sub DPS: Fischl or Xingqiu
  • Support: Bennett
