The Best Mods for Crusader Kings 3 – 5 Must Have Mods

Crusader Kings 3 certainly seems to have delivered on the community’s expectations, just take a look at all of the stories players are telling on social media. But there’s always room for improvement right? While it may take time for Paradox to address some quality of life issues, modders are already hard at work. Today we’re highlighting five of our favorite Crusader Kings 3 mods. Each and every one should really be installed, especially if you aren’t playing in Ironman Mode.

Note: You cannot use most Crusader Kings 3 mods and play in Ironman Mode with achievements enabled. Some mods say they do not disable achievements. That may be the case, but we highly recommend making absolutely sure once you go to create your new game.

Best Crusader Kings 3 Mods

Fullscreen Barbershop

One of my few complaints with Crusader Kings 3 is the lack of a full body view for my characters. Sure you get a waste up look in a couple of the menus. If they’re your leader you can see most of them in the lifestyle selection screen, but it’s just not the same.

Luckily Agamidae has put together a mod called Fullscreen Barbershop. It does exactly as it describes. Rather than the usual barbershop which again features the waist up approach, your entire screen gets taken over. There you can alter your characters appearance in all of the same ways, but you can also pose them in any of the game’s predefined emotion stances. You can even add in your spouse and heir and position them too. Honestly it’s just a great mod for immersion purposes.

The mod also comes with Barbershop for Everyone which lets you modify the appearance of anyone in the game instead of just your family.

Extended Outliner

The current outliner is basically a faster way of navigating around between characters, armies, and holdings. But what if it was more than that? FUN’s mod, Expanded Outliner, adds some additional information. At a glance you’ll be able to see the character’s ages, relations, and titles. It also adds tax and levy information to your holdings so you don’t have to visit each one individually.

What’s your first course of action when an event screen pops up? Do you move your cursor over and click on the character to see who they are and what their relationship is to you? What they rule over? If your answer is yes, then FUN’s Nameplates mod is for you. Rather than having to click to view things, it’ll automatically display the person’s name, title, and relation to you, if any.

Colorful Education Traits

Each character’s attributes has an associated color: green for Stewardship, Purple for intrigue, etc. Surprisingly though, the education traits that each character gains are all the same color. Aj’s Colorful Education Traits mod gives the icons the associated background color so it’s easier to read at a glance.

Brighter Portraits

It’s a small quality of life mod, but Wilsonator’s Brighter Portraits make characters much more visible and colorful whenever they appear. We can’t recommend it enough!

That’s it for now! We’ll be adding more must download mods as time goes on, but right now these were our favorites from the current Crusader Kings 3 offerings. Have mods you’d recommend? Share them in the comments below!
