Sea of Thieves is getting its biggest and most exciting update yet. Tied in with Season 3, the new “A Pirate’s Life” update will see this swashbuckling world cross swords with Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise. Not only will this season revolve around a brand new storyline, but it will introduce a host of changes to the game’s world. Along with new story content, players can complete challenges tied to the new Tall Tales. Finishing all of these will unlock new cosmetics for your pirate, so it’s definitely worth beating as many as possible. Just like the other Tall Tales, you will need to hunt down journals scattered throughout the mission to complete the Lost at Sea commendation. Here’s where to find the hidden journals in the Coral Fortress:
Coral Fortress Journal Locations
The first journal is located in the small flooded antechamber right after you open the door to the fortress. Once inside, swim to the back right corner towards the coral and ship debris. Dive under the water and swim against the broken wooden ship. You’ll see the journal on the left along the wood just above the waterline.
You will find the second journal in the long underwater tunnel that Jack is swimming through. Follow his ghost through the tunnel until you reach an area with two bright blue glowing coral balls. You’ll find the next journal just beyond them on the left along some rocks.
Continue through the level until you reach an area where you need to move a mast with a pully to reach the other side. Jump down to the cliffside on the right and face the rock shown above. You’ll see the next journal lying there.
Keep progressing through the mission until you reach the massive room where The Flying Dutchman is anchored. Climb up onto the boat and head down the stairs to the lower flor. Take the knife out of the map and then go back onto the deck. Some dialogue will play before the doors open to the captain’s quarters. Head inside and grab the book on the chest to the left by the pipe organ.
After a very long battle aboard the ship, a door will open and allow you to progress farther into the fortress. Right as you enter the new room where you have to cut the debris with your sword, swim down towards the seafloor. You’ll find the fifth journal in an underwater cage with the door open.
In the same room as the fifth journal, cut the debris on the seafloor so it floats to the top. Climb onto the wreckage and make your way across. You will see some wooden scaffolding along the left side of the back wall. Underneath it is your next journal.
It’s going to be a bit before you reach journal seven, as it’s after the lengthy siren puzzles. Once you get to this point, drop down and kill all of the Ocean Crawlers that spawn around the room. After they’ve been defeated, approach the wall shown above and look for the book hiding behind some of the coral.
You will find journal eight in the room with the siren puzzle that raises the water level upon completion. Before you progress down the hall, swim towards the collection of glowing blue coral on the left. You will find the book sitting among the pieces of coral to the left of the glowing ball.
Now make your way down the hallway and make sure to listen to the conversation Davy Jones is having with his court. This will earn you the Dark Desire commendation so long as you hear the entire dialogue exchange without leaving the hall. Once the conversation is over, go to the end of the hall and you’ll see the ninth journal hidden in a corner behind some coral on the right.
The final journal is located in the meeting room where Davy Jones was speaking to his new court. On the other side of the table, you’ll find one of the journals resting against a chair. Reading this will complete the Lost At Sea commendation and you can grab the Heart of a Thief commendation in this room as well!
