The Battletoads are returning tomorrow and to celebrate their arrival, developer Rare is offering a special in-game Sea of Thieves ship cosmetic set. Available to anyone, this set revolves around the Battletoads with the core ship colors being different shades of green and a pirate version of the franchise’s logo. Unlike other video game tie-ins like State of Decay, Banjo Kazooie, and Viva Pinata, this set is not available in Sea of Thieves. Thankfully, actually earning this set seems pretty simple and will only require a little bit of time if you own Xbox Game Pass.
Here’s how to unlock the Fightin’ Frogs ship cosmetic set for Sea of Thieves:
How to Unlock the Battletoads Ship
To obtain this set, you will need to complete Act 1 of the new Battletoads game that released today. Act 1 is broken up across seven stages, some of which are fairly short given it’s the opening of the game. However, Battletoads can be pretty tricky at times – especially if you’re brand new to this franchise. If you have no interest in the rest of the game, just set it on the easiest difficulty. It should take you roughly 2-3 hours to beat Act 1 depending on your difficulty setting.
This title will be available on Xbox One, Steam, and Windows 10 but is completely free to Xbox Game Pass owners. So if you’re not already subscribed to one of the best deals in gaming, here’s another solid reason. Once you complete Act 1, the Fightin’ Frogs set will be immediately added to your pirate’s ship cosmetics. You shouldn’t need to spend any gold to purchase them, so just visit the ship vanity chest and slap those frogs all over your set.
Make sure when you are signed onto the same Xbox account that you play Sea of Thieves on. Completing Act 1 on that account will give you access to the Fightin’ Frogs once you boot up the game. There’s no way to actually obtain these cosmetic items outside of playing Battletoads. Additionally, this doesn’t appear to be a limited-time event, so you can earn it at any time. So if you’re new or have been getting sick of rocking that Master Chief ship set, then consider giving Battletoads a try!

Along with this ship set, Rare also announced a number of new events tied to the Summer of Sea of Thieves. These are events that take place throughout the rest of August and September, allowing users to earn new ship and item cosmetics. The Summer Stash is tied to just completing different challenges such as speaking to different NPCs in the Glorious Sea Dogs tavern. These challenges are currently live, so you can visit their event page to learn more about these cosmetics.
Finally, the Shrouded Ghost ship cosmetics will be tied to the Hunters of the Deep event which launches on August 26th. This will task you with collecting shark teeth from earning the blue lantern flame, selling shark meat, finding Merrick’s journals, and slaying Megalodons. If you have enough you can purchase the Shrouded Ghost sails, flags, hull color, and figurehead. Of course, if you want to take the easy way out you can always wait and pick this set up in the Pirate Emporium.
The Summer of Sea of Thieves is currently live on Xbox One, Steam, and Windows 10.
