PUBG Mobile Season 16 Week 1 Challenges – Tips and Tricks

Trains aren't vehicles, apparently.

In a somewhat surprising move, PUBG Mobile Season 16 has kicked off as a full collaboration with the Metro universe. We knew the Metro Royale and Metro Erangel tweaks were coming, but an entire two-month season pass dedicated to the creepy FPS franchise is a welcome change of pace. For the next eight weeks, we’ll have missions that won’t really have much to do with the franchise, but you better believe you’ll be rewarded with themed skins for your participation. There’s no requirement to risk it all in Metro Royale this week, but hopefully, that will change. Here’s the full Season 16 Week 1 mission list and how to tick them all off.

PUBG Mobile Season 16 Week 1 Royale Pass Missions

Aid Mission: Pick up Frag Grenade in 32 matches in Classic mode

Frag grenades are everywhere. Really, they are. Look at the ground beneath your feet and you’re fairly likely to find one. They’re not quite as common as smoke grenades for the most part, but you shouldn’t struggle to find one in each match. And that’s all you can do. Picking up multiple pineapples in a single match won’t help your cause, but as it’s an Aid mission, squadmates grabbing one each per match should count each time. It’s not the clearest of missions, but Tencent can’t expect one mission to take 32 matches. That’s absurd.

Choice Mission

  1. Land on any rooftop in Pochinki (Erangel) 3 times in Classic mode

    • Pochinki is filled to the brim with in-tact houses and buildings. There’s no shortage of rooftops to land on here, and plenty of routes out of town if it’s looking a bit crowded (which it will be). Not a bad choice for the experienced player.
  2. Land on any rooftop in Los Leones (Miramar) 3 times in Classic mode

    • A wide array of complete and borderline non-existent rooftop surfaces here makes Los Leones a tricky sell. The hallowed out apartment complexes don’t help, either. Land here if you want a 50/50 chance at failure. We’ll leave it at that.
  3. Land on any rooftop in Quarry (Sanhok) 3 times in Classic mode

    • Landing around the Quarry isn’t likely to result in a 12-player firefight. There’s a quarry between each and every major house, of course. But if you overstep your glide, you’re on the floor. There’s no room for mistakes here.

Open 4 Air Drops in Classic mode

Now this one is just mean. For a free mission, that is. The usual tricks to cracking open an Air Drop is to either be right underneath it as it lands (which is still risky) or to hang back and pick off any other would-be looters that haphazardly run toward it. Just keep an eye on your surroundings, too. Either way, a vehicle and some smoke grenades can make a big difference in getting you in and out fast and covering your tracks.

Note: This mission repeats in Week 2. If you’re struggling to open four air drops, wait until Week 2 missions open so you don’t need to repeat it.

Kill 10 enemies with SKS in any mode

The SKS is a popular weapon of Uncommon rarity, making it fairly easy to come by whether on the ground or on the corpse of an enemy. It’s a carbine rifle, landing is somewhere between an AR and a sniper. It has a tiny magazine, but with the possibility of taking almost any attachment out there, you can really spec this thing to your personal preference. Medium range is where it seems to shine, but its precision makes it a deadly force at close-range, too. You just need to stand still to get the most out of it, making you an easy target.

Pick up Military Vest (Lv. 3) in 10 matches in Classic mode

Military Vests, at least the Lv. 3 kind, can be hard to come by. You either get lucky and find one on the ground or you’re forced to risk an air drop for the late-game protection you need. The longer you go without one, the higher chance you have of finding one on the corpse of a fallen fighter, as you’ll start to run into players who already have on themselves. Do keep an eye out, though. The damage reduction of the Lv. 3 vest shouldn’t be disregarded. It can easily make the difference between a win and a loss.

Kill 20 enemies with UMP45 in any mode

The UMP45 is a powerful SMG that can burn an opponent down in a satisfying storm of shrapnel. At the right distance from the target, managing its recoil becomes a non-issue, letting you hear a good dozen shots go off in a single second straight into your target. Slap an extended mag on this thing and you’ll be able to take on an ambush in the right situation. Switch to it the moment you get close to a house or alleyway and you should be ready to rack up the kills.

PUBG Mobile Season 16 Week 1 Elite Royale Pass Missions

Friend Bonus: Survive for a total of 100 minutes in Classic mode

100 minutes is 100 minutes. There’s no changing that. No amount of tips and tricks will make a real difference here. Just play your matches and you’ll rack up the minutes. You could argue that time spent in queues and lobbies will make this mission take longer than if you survived 20-30 minutes each match, but you’re going to be playing those matches anyway, so it’s best to just not dwell on the specifics.

Choice Mission

  1. Deal a total of 3600 damage in Classic mode

    • Here’s one that’ll take the average player a little while to complete. Probably around 12-15 matches for most. Damage is all you can do, so this will come naturally as you play for other reasons. Don’t worry about completing this in a single week. It’ll be around for the next couple of months.
  2. Deal 7500 damage in Arena

    • Arena is a different story. The aggressive playstyles that appear when respawns are enabled can make 7500 damage come about in 3-5 good matches. Absolutely choose this if you want the RP right now.

Deal 1500 damage in a single match in Arena

While 7500 damage in an unlimited amount of Arena matches is easy enough, 1500 in a single match isn’t easy. Not for the average player, at least. Domination might be the better option for this as you almost always know where the enemy is. It’s a constant power struggle with the ones holding the point being more at risk to flanks.  Use that to your advantage.

Carry teammates in a vehicle for a total of 10,000 meters in Classic mode

It’s road trip time! It’s a little sad that only Elite Pass holders get to enjoy the ride this time, but there’s always time for the 20,000-meter dash to show up down the line. Either let this happen naturally as you play those 32 grenade matches, or burn rubber and drive around the outer edge of a map with no destination in mind.
