Core 2021 is the next set coming to Magic: The Gathering and it’s all about everyone’s most hated favorite Planeswalker, Teferi. Set to release next month, Core Set 2021 will be a mix of new and old cards, that will hopefully drive the price down of some Commander and casual staples. While previews were planned for earlier this week, Wizards of the Coast announced on Twitter that they would be moving the official announcement to Friday to respect the National Day of mourning. You can expect the full preview season to kick-off on June 5 at 7 a.m. PST.
However, this didn’t stop some of the cards from leaking, as various low-quality snapshots of Core Set 2021 cards began showing up on social media. While we obviously cannot directly confirm if these cards are part of the set, we would be surprised if anyone was faking some of these leaks. With that being said, take any images you see until tomorrow with a grain of salt, since we cannot directly confirm if the cards are, in fact, part of MTG’s new set.

Core Set 2021 Release Date
Core Set 2021 is set to release on July 3 for paper users and June 25 for those who play on MTG Arena. Unsurprisingly, the MTG Arena users will get to try the set first since Wizards of the Coast has traditionally liked to release the game digitally first. As for the physical release, it’s difficult to predict if it will become delayed with all the protests and the COVID-19 outbreak which has been devastating to a lot of local game stores. If you do plan on attending a Core Set 2021 pre-release, consider playing a bit on MTG Arena first to not only learn the format but see if you actually enjoy drafting this set.

Core Set 2021 Price and Collector Boosters
Like previous Standard sets, the prices for Core Set 2021 should fall in line with typical costs associated with booster packs and booster boxes. Even though Wizards of the Coast can no longer be asked to provide an MSRP on products, we expect players to see booster packs cost around $3.99 and booster boxes anywhere from $80-100 depending on the quality of the reprints. This, of course, could change if this set ends up having a comical amount of value in it, but we do doubt it. Unless they plan to reprint fetch lands, (In the name of Heliod, WoTC just reprint them already) players shouldn’t expect an insane price.
We also know that there will be Collector Boosters for Core Set 2021. Information on these is even scarcer, but users should expect more full art cards and foils. The price for Collector Boosters typically ranges between $20-25 a pack, with the boxes going for a little over $200.
Make sure to check in with us tomorrow when Core Set 2021 is officially revealed by Wizards of the Coast.
