Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord Module Mismatch Error Guide – What’s It Mean?

If you’ve been playing Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord since its release seven days ago, chances are you’ve seen the module mismatch error at some point. This usually pops up when you go to load your saved game and just want to continue playing your campaign. But what does a module mismatch even mean? How do you fix it? Is it actually a problem? This guide will answer all of those questions.

As a reminder, this is an early access game, things are subject to change. We’ll do our best to keep the guide up to date, but can’t promise we’ll have absolutely everything updated straight away. New errors pop up quickly and old errors might return.

What Is a Module Mismatch in Mount & Blade 2?

One of the things TaleWorlds Entertainment has been getting credit for is its rapid updates to Mount & Blade 2. Every single day has had at least one patch so far, fixing all kinds of bugs and errors. The way the game works, however, is by updating your campaign whenever there’s been a new patch. This happens when you go to load your game. The module mismatch message is simply trying to convey that the game needs to update your save to use the latest patch.

How Do You Fix a Module Mismatch?

Most of the time the error will resolve itself when you accept the resolution. There was a bug late last week where this didn’t function, however. At that time players thought they needed to create a new campaign with every patch but that is not the case. It was simply a bug.

If you’re experiencing issues with a module mismatch, submit a ticket because it should be working for the overwhelming majority of players.

Is a Module Mismatch Actually A Problem?

Not really! Like we said, for most players it just means your save is being updated to use the latest modules.

And that’s it for now! We’re still working our way through Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord. We’ll be sure to update this guide with any new information we find as we play. If you have any tips or tricks to share with fellow players, do leave them in the comments below! If we agree they’re useful we’ll add them to the guide!
