Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord Caravans Guide – What Are Caravans?

During your time playing Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, you will come across various caravans on the world map. You can catch up and stop these caravans to discuss rumors and trade with them, which we’ll touch on below, but you can also found your own caravan. What’s the use of that exactly? Our Mount & Blade Caravans Guide will explain how this system works!

As a reminder, this is an early access game, things are subject to change. We’ll do our best to keep the guide up to date, but can’t promise we’ll have absolutely everything updated straight away.

What Are Caravans in Mount & Blade 2?

Each AI faction in the game has a few different caravans at any given time. They travel from location to location, buying and selling goods. Where they go and what they sell has a big affect on the overall economy. After all, prices always depend on supply and demand in any given city or town. Camels, for example, aren’t going to sell very well if you’re visiting a desert area. They already have plenty!

You can interact with them on the world map to discuss trade rumors, ask where they’re going, or hold them up for some of their goods. Or you can just trade with them, of course.

What Does Making Your Own Caravan Do?

Caravans aren’t exactly cheap. Making one will not only set you back around 15,000 gold, a few dozen guards, and a companion to escort them.

They’ll travel from town to town to buy and sell items, making you a nice profit along the way. Assuming they don’t get raided, of course. The good news is we don’t know if it’s actually possible for them to be attacked. Thus far we haven’t had ours run into any problems despite being at war with other factions.

It will take a full seven days before you see any profit. The amount of income will depend on the economy, where they’re originating from, the towns they visit, and the goods they’re selling. But on average you can expect to earn at least 500 gold a day after subtracting upkeep.

How Do You Buy A Caravan?

Getting a caravan is actually really easy assuming you have the resources. Just head to any city keeping in mind that the caravan will be centered around that location. Talk to any of the local merchants by either roaming around the streets or clicking on their icon in the top right corner. Ask them to form a caravan, pay them the gold and give them the troops needed.

How Many Caravans Can You Own?

As many as you want! That is, as long as you have a companion to go along with it. You’re only limited by how many companions you want to spend on caravans. And companions on caravans can’t care for workshops or fill other useful roles.

How Do I Disband A Caravan?

Just go into your Clan Tab, navigate over to Parties, and then click on Caravans. Select the companion leading the group and click Disband Party.

And that’s it for now! Caravans are essentially just passive gold generation and isn’t all that intricate of a system at the moment.

We’re still working our way through Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord. We’ll be sure to update this guide with any new information we find as we play. If you have any tips or tricks to share with fellow players, do leave them in the comments below! If we agree they’re useful we’ll add them to the guide!
