Official MLB The Show 22 Team Rankings
All of these are pretty self-explanatory. Speed is a measure of how fast the players can run when fielding or base-running. Contact is about how good they are at getting hits. Power determines how well they can swing for the fences. Pitching measures how well their entire pitching crew ranks compared to the other teams, and defense is about how well their players field. That’s it!

One thing you may have noticed is the numbers don’t entirely match up. The Braves, for example, are ranked sixth overall despite having middle-of-the-field overall rankings. There are two possibilities here. The first is that there’s somewhat of an opinion built into here based on real-world performance. The second, which we think is more likely, is the numbers aren’t weighted equally. How much do these affect actual performance? We don’t know for sure.
We can, however, tell you that the rankings look like this if you average out each of the main skills. If these do actually have an impact, theĀ Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers (just like last year) are overrated and fall out of the top ten. Lower down the field, the Padres and Mariners also drop at least five positions each. It also shows the Phillies jumping from 10th to 3rd! The Colorado Rockies and Cleveland Guardians also climb from the bottom third into the top third. Take this as you will. It’s not science or backed up by actual performance in the game. But if the numbers EA assigned to each team actually matter, this is the true ranking by best overall stats.

Best MLB The Show 22 Teams
Either way you cut it, it’s clear that one team stands above the rest: the LA Dodgers. Every major stat is among the top five in the league, putting them firmly ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays who, while second, have a much lower score thanks to their defense and speed. After that, it’s a good way back to the Phillies, Cardinals, Astros, and White Sox.
If you add up all of the rankings, you want to get the lowest number possible as this indicates the best overall team. For example, a team that is the best across the board would have an overall score of five if they ranked #1 in contact, power, pitching, defense, and speed.
- LA Dodgers (11)
- Toronto Blue Jays (29)
- Philadelphia Phillies (47)
- St. Louis Cardinals (48)
- Houston Astros (49)
- Chicago White Sox (49)
After this group, there’s a big 15 point gap back to the midfield starting with the Yankees and Red Sox. Most teams do fall between 65 and 88 with the bottom eight teams significantly behind the rest of the field.
Worst MLB The Show 22 Teams
At the bottom of the heap are the only two teams who managed an overall score above 120: the Cincinnati Reds and Oakland Athletics. It’s rough going down here. The only reason the Minnesota Twins (97) didn’t end up above 100 is thanks to their #2 ranking in power score. Despite that, they’re still clearly outside of the midfield pack, which are all at least ten points in front of them.
- Oakland As (128)
- Cincinnati Reds (124)
- Washington Nationals (119)
- Pittsburgh Pirates (115)
- Arizona Diamondbacks (109)
- Baltimore Orioles (106)
- San Francisco Giants (101)
