The MHW Grand Appreciation Fest is upon us, bringing a host of new event quests like Flora Frostbite. This particular mission sends hunters on a gathering quest. Like most such missions, it’s not that hard! But you might be wondering what you get for the time you spend. Well, let’s break it down for your in our latest Monster Hunter World guide to the Flora Frostbite quest — and how to get the Wyverian Ears armor.
As mentioned in the intro, this is an incredible easy event quest. Just head to the mission board and select “Flora Frostbite.” You can go in with a group, but it won’t be much faster or different than if you take the job solo. That’s especially true on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, where load times are going to be one of your biggest barriers to entry.

The mission itself will take you to the Hoarfrost Reach. Naturally, that means this MHW event quest is only available to players who own the Iceborne expansion from 2019. Anyone who’s still playing base Monster Hunter World (for whatever reason) will need to shell out for the add-on. Otherwise you can skip Flora Frostbite altogether, but that’s probably not why you’re here! You want the Wyverian Ears armor piece in MHW — or at least you want to know what that particular piece is and what skills it gives you.
As you can probably tell from the name, the Wyverian Ears are armor for the head of your MHW hunter. They’re not layered armor by default (meaning they take up your normal helmet slot), so take that into consideration before wearing them. These are mostly going to be for players that want to make fashionable fits for their hunter and take screenshots outside of normal missions.
That’s because the skills on the Wyverian Ears are nothing to write home about. They provide a Level 4 Decoration slot, two levels of the Mushroomancer skill, and one level of Survival Expert. Combined with a Wide-Range focused support build, you might be able to do some interesting things with them. But there are far better options out there for high-level players. Low- to mid-level players looking to test out support builds could find some use for them, though, given the Wyverian Ears’ extreme ease of access.
Speaking of access: the Flora Frostbite just requires you to collect 10 Iowly Icebloom flowers in the Hoarfrost Reach. That’s it! Once you have them all, you’ll get at least one Wyverian Ticket. And you only need the one ticket to construct the Wyverian Ears back at the forge. Well, it also requires three Thick Bones, but you ought to have those by this point, too.
For your trouble, you can make your hunter look like a Wyverian: those elfish folks in the Monster Hunter universe like The Seeker. That’s about it! Enjoy your fashion fodder.
