In MHW, “Beef is Never a Mi-steak” is your ticket to a very goofy new weapon. As you can probably tell from the title of this article (and the quest itself), this mission unlocks the Well-done Hammer for dedicated players. The beef stick (or beat stick) in question doesn’t have the most well-rounded stats. But any hunter worth their salt is still going to want it for the sheer novelty. But how many times do you need to complete the quest to get it? And when can you access “Beef is Never a Mi-Steak” in MHW in the first place? Find out in our latest guide to the gooey weapon.
“Beef is Never a Mi-steak” launched in MHW alongside the Grand Appreciation Fest: a two-year anniversary event meant to celebrate Monster Hunter World. Depending on when you’re reading this, it’s available from now until Feb. 23, 2020 on both PC and consoles. Although it should become available again periodically — particularly during any other seasonal events in-game.

The mission itself pits you against both an Ebony Odogaron and a standard Glavenus in a single hunt across the Wildspire Waste. That’s not the most difficult combination to battle, but you might as well come prepared just the same! Consider bringing a Water weapon; both beasts are very weak to that particular element.
Depending on your level of luck, the most you’ll need to run this mission is a total of three times. The mission is guaranteed to drop at least one Meaty Canteen Ticket: the material you need to make the Well-done Hammer. You need two tickets to create the initial version of the weapon, and a third to upgrade it into the Rarity 11 Juicy Well-done Hammer. The upgrade also requires a number of gathering materials only found in the Guiding Lands. So early- to mid-game players won’t be able to create the juicy variant right away, sadly.
Once you do upgrade it all the way, however, you’ve got yourself… something of a novelty. The Juicy Well-done Hammer has no white sharpness or Affinity to speak of. However, it does have an incredible amount of raw damage (specifically 1612 points) and a lowish 210 points of Fire damage. It might not exactly be meta, but it is totally serviceable against the right monsters! Just maybe take it out against creatures weak to Fire damage specifically if you want to show your hard-earned gains off.
You might also want to burn a Lucky Voucher or two just to be safe. You get three of these reward-boosting items every day during the Grand Appreciation Fest. So it’s not hard to get more. This might also save you the trouble of running “Beef is Never a Mi-steak” in MHW more than just once or twice. The decision is ultimately up to you, though.
Once you’ve got three Meaty Canteen Tickets, that’s it! You’re good to go. Get out there and show the world what it means to be “So tasty!”
