Yagami has enough on his plate as it is, but that won’t prevent the citizens of Lost Judgment from asking for help. As you roam the streets of both Kamurocho and Ijincho, you will encounter townsfolk in need of detective work. There are a total of 42 substories across all 13 chapters of the game, and this guide covers where to find them, how to complete them, and all the answers to Active Searches and Conversations related to them.

Side Cases List – Lost Judgment
1. Skateboard Detective vs. The Reseller
This side case takes place in Ijincho and is unlocked just by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 1. Tsukumo will ask you to buy a rare figurine for him before a reseller gets it. For this, you’ll have to use your new fancy skateboard.
You can pick any route you want — it’s a straightforward enough path to the store. Once you arrive, head to the sidewalk and Yagami will automatically enter. Then, expect some trouble after making the purchase. After the encounter, enjoy the cutscenes and that will be all. Oh, and say no to scalpers.
2. The Falling Man
This side case takes place in Ijincho and is unlocked just by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 3 . When you’re given the task to Use Gadgets to Find the Arachnid Man, head to the marked spot and equip your new Noise Amp (it’s in the Investigate mode menu). If you aim at one of the upper floors, you will notice the point of interest right away. Focus on it and The Falling Man will begin.
Once inside the alley, use the foothold on the left wall to start climbing. All you have to do here is jump to the pipes until you are just above the character in distress. Then, brace yourself for a sit-com-like set of cutscenes.
Then, Yagami will wonder what to ask, and three questions will appear:
- Are you a resident of this apartment building?
- Swallows shouldn’t be here this season?
- You didn’t think to get help from residents?
Feel free to pick them in any order. Sadly, the Arachnid Man won’t tell you much. Yagami will suggest observing him, so open up Investigate mode. From here, go around him to find a suspicious pink item on his pants’ back pocket. He won’t take your accusation slightly, so prepare for a rather straightforward fight. Kick his butt and the side case will be closed.
3. The Café Robber
This side case takes place in Kamurocho and is unlocked just by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 3. After you’re briefed on how Side Cases and Buzzwords work, this will automatically become available. At any point you return to Kamurocho, the icon for this task will appear in the corner of Tenkaichi St. right next to Stardust. A cutscene will play as soon as you’re close. Then, you’ll have two keywords to analyze in the Buzzword Researcher.
First of all, run the search for both keywords — otherwise, you won’t be able to progress. Once that’s settled, head to Café Alps for another cutscene. Something doesn’t add up here. A new objective will task you to head to the back of the venue. For this, you need to enter investigation mode by switching to first person. Then, point at the strange sign on the front door of the café, rotate it and examine the SOS.
Open the backdoor by picking up the lock. It’s a rather simple one, so you won’t have any issues. Approaching the burglar is a different story. There are three options here, but the “proper” one is the box (should have been the suit). You actually need to move during the next sequence, so wait for every chance when the burglar isn’t looking to do so. He will run away afterwards, but don’t worry, as Yagami won’t think twice to chase after him. You will be rewarded with the Extract Recipe: Smoke Bomb Tactic for your trouble.
4. Trying the Patience of a Saint
This side case is unlocked by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 4. After you’ve used the Detector for the first time and followed the story until Yagami rests in Yokohama 99, head to Seiryo School during the day. Halfway through the hallway of the third floor, you will notice a strange event with a professor. Amasawa will show up and invite you to talk more about it at the MRC.
Turns out the professor has quite the backstory. Ask more about the case in any order. After the briefing, head to the Faculty Room and talk to Ebisu. You’re about to become his personal bodyguard for a day. First off, start by finding the traps set for him by switching to first-person mode and focusing on the following:
- The chalkboard eraser trap that is stuck on the right side of the second door.
- The cushion on the chair.
- The piece of carpet beneath the chair.
Don’t worry about the banana peel — that’s just how it goes. After the test is over, Ebisu will get the urge to go to the bathroom, but something smells. In first-person, focus on the following traps:
- The chalkboard eraser trap in the door.
- The doorplate (from the side of the door).
Then, talk to him and confirm that he is all set to use the correct bathroom. You won’t be done for the day just yet. Ebisu has one final activity in school, and once more the students are trying to temper with it. A fight will ensue, though it isn’t much of a challenge. The second one, however, can be a bit tough. Make sure to give him everything you’ve got. Watch the closure of the story, and the side case will be closed.
5. Where is the Time Capsule?
This side case takes place in Ijincho and is unlocked just by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 3 . After you’re briefed on how Side Cases and Buzzwords work, this will automatically become available. The task takes place in Seiryo High School. Once you arrive, it won’t trigger itself since it has to be manually discovered. For this, head inside the school and keep going straight by passing the lockers. Go outside to the courtyard and you will meet a group of three NPCs right after you open the courtyard door. Interact with them and choose to help them out.
After a brief chat, they will give you some enigmatic instructions to find their time capsule: “The giant’s wheel, lording over the tree with the most branches, three steps south from the roots. Two more steps east, and there a treasure rests,” You will receive this as the Memo of the Code evidence.
From where you just chatted with the group, head to the opposite side of the courtyard. The “giant’s wheel” is in reference to the ferris wheel that can be seen if you get close to the northwestern gate. Once there, switch to first-person and focus on the first big tree — Yagami will identify it as the one with the most branches. Now, aim at the Ferris Wheel to focus and examine it for a cutscene to play out.
Return to the group to hand over the time capsule. A question will arise with three possible answers:
- It was stolen.
- You’re misremembering.
- Someone else mistakenly took it – this is the correct answer.
A cutscene will play out and you will then have to confirm the time capsule’s contents. Grab some tissues because this is about to get emotional.
During the revelation, three possibilities will come up:
- What about a yearbook?
- Get in touch with old friends?
- Where do they live?
Exhaust all three of them and ask how does she look as the fourth alternative. You will receive the Face Sketch of Goto as evidence. Now, it’s time to look for Goto in Chinatown. You can either go on foot or just take a taxi to S Chinatown. The spot is next to the taxi in there, and once you’re on it, you can begin target search. There is a woman on the opposite side of the taxi (so, towards the direction of Gull St. if you’re looking at the map) that has a white jacket on her. Aim and focus on her to investigate the profile. Yagami won’t be so sure about it, but talk to her anyway.
All that is left to do is to watch the cutscenes to follow (F in the chat) and the side case will be closed.
6. Where the Kappa Roam
This side case takes place in Ijincho and is unlocked by progression through the main storyline in Chapter 5. This becomes available on the map as an unnamed icon on N Sakura River St.
As soon as you arrive you’ll see a man wielding a kappa statue. A fight will ensue after you agree to help, which is rather easy if you focus on dodging that first attack and punching him back right afterwards. After this, you’ll be tasked with finding all seven missing statues by using the Buzz Researcher.
The closest result takes you a mere block away to the homeless camp. As soon as you arrive you will see a person running with the kappa statue up in the air – go ahead and confront them. For this, get close enough and press the button prompt to begin a chase sequence. Complete and you’ll be set. Six more to go!
From the parking lot, you can find another kappa nearby on the other side of E Central St. This one is in the trash, so just press the button prompt. Five to go.
There’s another one at the southern end of S Sakura RIver St., right where Misaki St. commences. It’s next to the statue that you may recognize if you’ve played Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Four to go.
Head to the southern end of the Bar District (the area shaped like a half-circle before stumbling upon Tsurukame Bridge) to find a struggling fisherman. A prompt will appear: move your analogue stick all the way to the top to reel in with all your might. Three to go.
You can find another kappa statue at the Drone Racing course in West Carriage Hwy. Three prompts will appear, but just pick any of them. Two to go.
Head towards the Hangout spot on Tsurukame Bridge, located right in the corner in front of Poppo. One of the men will mention having a cake with some extra yen he received from selling a Kappa. Finish hearing the conversation and pay Benten Pawn a visit, which is south of the Hangout spot. Purchase the statue for 100 yen. One to go.
The last one is found in Yokohama 99 after you’ve obtained all the previous ones. Just head inside and a cutscene will play out. You’ll receive the Free Pass Voucher 4 as a reward, and the case will be closed.
7. The SRC’s Hunt for the Truth
This side case takes place in Ijincho and is unlocked just by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 3 . After you’re briefed on how Side Cases and Buzzwords work, this will automatically become available. The task takes place just outside of Seiryo High School during the night. You will find two students chatting about UFOs in the main entrance. They will mention seeing information about them on Chatter, the buzzwords app. Open the app and select UFO from the keywords list. It seems this is only happening at night around the Bar District, so we’re heading there.
You will find the spot next to Survive bar. Upon arrival, you will immediately hear some strange noises; if you look up, there will be a moving object. Switch to first-person and aim at it to inspect it — just bear in mind it won’t stay in one place for long, though it usually stops in the center. A long cutscene will unfold and the investigation will officially begin afterwards.
Continue researching UFOs by heading to Central St. and confronting the SRC. After a brief chat, you’ll have to chat with Yabuki at Wette Kitchen. You can find him on the second floor. Now, Yagami has to find a UFO and take a picture of it. For this, open the Buzz Researcher again and pinpoint the keyword, which took us close to Fukutoku Bridge.
You will see a UFO roaming just above the park. Get on top of the cone-shaped structure in the middle to gain some height. In order to take a picture, you have to switch to first-person and inspect the UFO first. Then, the photo mission will begin. It doesn’t require any intricate angles, but make sure to adjust your focus and zoom to maximum levels.
After a cutscene, Yagami will have to repeat the process. There is apparently another UFO at Seiryo High, so let’s get moving. You need to get inside the school and head to the courtyard to continue the investigation. Once there, ask the students about the UFO. You will then have to find it on the roof. For this, switch to first-person and inspect the one flying around. The side case will then ask you to take a picture of the UFO (it’s the last one!) and then chase it. This one isn’t complicated, but keep an eye for a quick time event. Once the chase is over, enjoy the last batch of cutscenes. The side case will then be closed.
8. The Invisible Burglar
This side case takes place in Kamurocho and is unlocked by picking up the keyword “stalker” from the Hangout Spot in the Champion District. Then, you’ll have to head to the southern end of Senryo Ave. to start the case.
You’ll arrive at the corner located on the last intersection. If you look at the rooftop, you’ll notice a man wearing binoculars. Switch over to first-person and investigate him. Then, listen to his side of the story and ask questions in any order. Chat with Kiba when you’re ready to enter the building.
Once at the office, begin the investigation by interacting with the following items:
- The bug bomb on the right (it looks like a red can).
- The bag of chips on the floor.
- The fridge that is on the right side.
- The sword next to Sakurazaka.
- The safe.
Seems like a lot, but they’re all super quick. Lastly, investigate the hatch to the attic that is mentioned when you grab the bug bomb. The hatch won’t open, so you’ll have to use the Noise Amp gadget. Feel free to do any of the above in a different order; this is just so you know what to focus on.
Afterwards, Yagami will be asked if he’s done searching for clues. You then have to choose the following:
- Say that they’re still up in the attic.
- Present the Roach Exterminator as evidence.
Watch the final closing cutscenes and you’ll receive the Extract Recipe: Provocateur as a reward.
9. The Body Model Walks at Night!!!
This side case takes place in Ijincho and is unlocked just by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 3. After you’re briefed on how Side Cases and Buzzwords work, this will automatically become available. The task takes place in Seiryo High School. Once you arrive (during the night) Yagami will automatically mention it. Now, you’ll have to find the roaming body model.
The first part of the side case is straightforward enough. Head to the MRC location and a cutscene will trigger, as the mission takes place in that corridor. Then, Yagami will get to the second floor, and you will have to use the Noise Amp to find the body model. After you equip the Noise Amp, you will immediately see a noise coming from the first classroom on the left. Ignore it and keep walking forward. The model is in the second classroom. Aim and focus on them and a chase sequence will begin after a cutscene. Keep an eye out for any glowing objects on the floor, which you can use to throw at them and slow their pace.
Once you’ve caught them, a series of cutscenes will play out, so just enjoy them. Then, you will obtain the task to speak with Naito again later to see how it all went. Afterwards, you will have to wait until daytime to return to the school and catch up with him. Naito can be found in the cafeteria. Head there for a brief cutscene and the case will be closed.
10. Dueling Dojos
This side case takes place in Kamurocho and is unlocked just by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 3. After you’re briefed on how Side Cases and Buzzwords work, you can grab this from the board at Yagami Detective Agency.
You can kickstart this at M Side Cafe in Taihei Blvd. at any time. Upon entering, Yagami will remember that Ryan is actually hiding. After you take the staircase to the upper floor, turn around to see him grabbed from the wall Spidey-style, just above the aforementioned stairs. Switch to first-person and examine him. He will give you the gist of what’s been happening to his students. Yagami will happily agree to infiltrate the rival dojo, and for this, Ryan will give him the Ninja Outfit. This serves both as evidence and as one of Yagami’s disguises.
Head to the dojo in Senryo Ave. and talk to the ninja at the door. He will ask why you’re not abiding by the dress code, so it’s time to switch to your ninja attire. You can do this from the Disguises tab in the Items app of your phone.
After a rather wild introduction to the class, the trials will begin. First, you need to chase Kalashnikov. There are several obstacles in this sequence, but it’s rather repetitive. He will get tired after a while. Onto the second trial now. Don’t expect too much of a spectacle for this one. You can choose any mode you want to play darts. We went for 01 – 301. Enjoy the game and be sure to pay attention to the song in the background for a cool reference.
Time for the third and final trial. Things will escalate and end up in a fight. A series of cutscenes will unfold. After they wrap up, you will obtain the Training Band, and the case will be closed.
11. The Forbidden Taste
This side case takes place in Ijincho and is unlocked just by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 3. After you’re briefed on how Side Cases and Buzzwords work, this will automatically become available to grab from Job Requests at Yokohama 99.
The client is waiting for you at Meng Wu, which is located in S Chinatown. After meeting him, the investigation will begin. The ‘phantom ramen stall’ keyword will be added to the Buzzword app, so go ahead and select it to see the results. We started with the target that is only two blocks away from the restaurant. Once you arrive you will see a group of three NPCs talking about the ramen next to the vending machines. Wait until the conversation is over and Yagami will mention his discoveries.
Then, we went to Pier St. for two more conversations. Yagami will reach out to Joe and arrange to meet him again at Meng Wu to explain what he found out. Just pick the available options until the conversation is over (sounds rude, but time is money). After you share findings with Joe, you will have to find some cats nearby. This is marked on your map and around a block away from the restaurant, so head there. Once you interact with the cat, don’t worry about which option you choose, as it’s part of a tutorial about Feline Encounters.
Now, you will have to put those lessons to good use and befriend a cat. We recommend you to pick up some cat food before you try it, which can be found in places like Poppo markets and Deco Rush (the latter has a large variety). For us, the process went like this: we approached the cat group and interacted with them one at a time, offering cat food first. All of them liked that. There is a cooldown of sorts, however, in between each interaction — but going for a short sprint around half a block away from them and coming back reset it every time. We then continued with a pet, and then cat food again. Make sure to remember their names correctly!
Now that you have befriended a cat, it’s time to find that ramen stall. Luckily, all you have to do is head to Yokohama 99 and a series of cutscenes will play out. You will receive the Book of the Ravenous as a reward, which unlocks the Verge of Death: Ravenous Snake skill.
12. Paradise VR Unlocked!
This side case takes place in Ijincho and is unlocked just by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 3. After you’re briefed on how Side Cases and Buzzwords work, this will automatically become available.
The side case can be kicked off from Hamakita Park Ave., in between Gull St. and Gull Alley. After a brief chat with an old acquaintance of Yagami, you’ll be able to try out Paradise VR for free. It’s a rather straightforward one: just go ahead and enjoy the match. Do keep in mind that it can be quite lengthy, though! Once you’re done, the side case will be closed but you’ll be able to return here at any time.
13. Paradise VR Upgraded!
This side case is unlocked after completing Paradise VR Unlocked! — if you don’t see it right away, roam around the city for a bit for it to appear. You can kick it off from the same spot as before. Tashiro will mention a significant enhancement to Paradise VR (or at least that’s his pitch) and invite you to try it out whenever. After a brief cutscene upon entering, talk to Naisu Daisu and select Short Course. Keep in mind that, unlike the first session, this isn’t a freebie. You will need three Play Pass tickets to play the course.
You can purchase one at Onodera’s Wares in the Commercial District for 1,000 yen. If you have been investing time in the Skateboard minigame, they can be purchased at 18,000 points from the Skateboard Prize Exchange store.
Once that’s settled, talk to Naisu Daisu, select the course and when prompted, and choose one of the special rivals. This is a rather long side case as you will have to defeat all of them, which means gathering enough tickets to do so. Luckily there’s an alternative: if you gather all six Free Pass Vouchers, you can exchange them for a play-all-you-want pass.
This task can be a bit time consuming, so don’t rush it – instead, try and follow the steps for each as you tackle the main story and other side activities. Otherwise it will be a chore. You can find all six Free Pass Vouchers in the following locations:
- Free Pass Voucher 1: Obtained at the Skateboard Prize Exchange shop for 25,000 points (this is unlocked via School Stories).
- Free Pass Voucher 2: Obtained as a reward for the Squirrel Search at Café Alps (this is part of Squirrel Locations).
- Free Pass Voucher 3: Obtained in Heaven’s Door, the underground casino in Ijincho. You will need 10,000 chips to purchase the voucher — 1,000 chips cost 100,000 yen, so it’s quite a steep price at least during the first few chapters of the game.
- Free Pass Voucher 4: Obtained after finding all seven Kappa Statues during the Where the Kappa Roam side case.
- Free Pass Voucher 5: Obtained by befriending the white cat in the Feline Encounter in the corner of Tsurukame Bridge in Ijincho. This is by far the most time consuming of the bunch:
- First, you need to unlock these encounters by completing the side case The Forbidden Taste.
- After that purchase cat food (the Poppo store across the street from the encounter has them) and interact with the cats. The white cat is by far the most elusive, so it will take some time — if you’re looking for an easy way to restart the encounter so you can interact with them again fast, make a back and forth from the cats and the middle of the street, heading towards Sunrise Bridge.
- Repeat this a couple times until you befriend the white cat just by giving them food, and the voucher will be yours
- Free Pass Voucher 6: Obtained in the Gambling Hall in Ijincho, which is accessed by inputting the following code: 7120. Once inside, you will need 10,000 wooden tags to purchase the voucher — again, 1,000 wooden tags cost 100,000 yen
As a final tip, we recommend that you always select the Short Course in Paradise VR, as it will save you a lot of time. Defeat all rivals and the side case will be closed.
14. Let the Drones Fly!
This side case takes place in Ijincho and is unlocked just by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 3. After you’re briefed on how Side Cases and Buzzwords work, this will automatically become available.
In order to kickstart it, head to the Drone Racing Registration located in the northwestern corner of Ijincho. Head inside the fence and interact with the crowd to learn about the event. Then, register for a drone race. In case you want a refresher, you’re given the option to do a quick tutorial race first. Regardless of what you choose, doing just one race will suffice. Watch the brief cutscene and the side case will be closed.
15. Extracting the Past
This side case takes place in Ijincho and is unlocked just by progressing through the main storyline in Chapter 3. After you’ve encountered Kuwana and the group disperses, this will trigger right afterwards. Yagami will see a familiar face, and after a short sequence, he’ll be handed a Warrior’s Onslaught Extract. This is pretty much a tutorial mission, so just follow the instructions and kick that guy’s ass.
Once you’re at Iyama’s place, go ahead and craft the extract. He will grant you the recipe as well as the Mysterious Gourd so that you can make these on the go. Then, he’s going to request to bring Mugwort, which is a plant material that is most likely in your inventory already. If not, places like Hamakita Park may be a good spot to find it. Interact with him again and choose to deliver the material. He will give you the Extract Recipe: Super Strength as a reward, and the side case will be closed.
16. Extracting the Truth
This side case is unlocked after completing Extracting the Past. In order to start it, head to Iyama’s Extra Shop. After quite an enigmatic talk about ancient languages, you’ll have to bring him a rose. You can find one as a material from ground loot or in Flowers 2 Go, the truck in Hamakita Park. As a reward, you will obtain the Extract Recipe: Willow Snake. Then, Iyama will ask for Garlic. If you haven’t found it as loot yet, you can purchase it at Hero’s Harvest in Hamakita Park. As a reward, you will obtain the Extract Recipe: Rushing Tiger.
Onto more requests! He will now ask for a Four Leaf Clover. Unlike in real life, these are fairly common to find around Hamakita Park as ground loot. You will then receive the Extra Recipe: Dancing Crane as a reward. After a cutscene and some revelations, the side case will be closed.
17. A New Partner?
This side case is unlocked just by following the main story in Chapter 4. Once you return to Yokohama 99 after chatting with Sawa at the school, a (good) dog will greet you at the agency’s entrance.
It’s rather straightforward from here. The detective will track down a case that needs to be solved, followed by another short trip. Then, take care of the Yakuza that are bothering Mikan. It won’t take long until Amasawa ends up being involved with this case, as well. Afterwards, the Detective Dog will be added to your Gadgets app and the case will be closed. Give him a good rub next time you see him, yeah?
18. Chaos of the Masked Writer
This side case is unlocked just by following the main story in Chapter 4. Once you return to Yokohama 99 after the big fight, you’ll be able to pick this up from the board at the office.
This subquest takes place in Kamurocho. Head to Lullaby Mahjong and go to the third floor to find Okazaki. After a big revelation and some questions about the case, you’ll be tasked to question the members of Kazuto Jumonji.
Go ahead and chat with all possible NPCs. There is a fifth person to speak to on the rooftop, so make sure to take the stairs at the end of the hallway. After chatting with Sanada, head back to the office. Once here, it’s time to call the detective dog. He will start barking almost immediately, and will then take you to the brainstorming space. Examine the ashtray there.
Move towards the window with the dog and examine it. Once in first person, examine the stains. Then, examine the animal fur just next to them. Ranpo will continue to help you afterwards (he’s so good). Afterwards, it’s time for some conclusions:
- The method by which the suspect was stealing information was… listening device.
- The method used to draw out the listening device… What traces inferred this? Smelly stain.
- What evidence did the listener drop as they fled the scene? Animal fur.
- What measure was taken by the suspect to chase away the cat with the listening device? Sound of firecrackers.
- What conclusion did I reach after all that reasoning? The suspect was someone on the outside.
Great work, detective. Now, onto a chase sequence, followed by a rather easy fight. Afterwards, you will obtain the Showa Duel Records: Earth as a reward, which adds the EX Dagger Break skill.
19. Flight of the Game Creator
This side case is unlocked just by following the main story in Chapter 4. After you’ve rested and gained the task to head to Kamurocho, you’ll be able to pick this up from the board at the office.
Head to Wette Kitchen (Isezaki Rd.) at Ijin Lane on Ijincho to kick start it. An NPC will greet you on the second floor and after a brief chat revealing some awful truths on game development, you’ll be tasked to look for Shinonome on Sakura River Street. You can take a taxi to Sunrise Bridge for a short trip there.
Upon your arrival, begin the target search on the signalized circle. From the three characters, talk to the farthest one that has his arms crossed and is wearing a jacket. Yagami will doubt some of his facial features, but he’ll try and inquire about them.
Sadly, we were being played. You’ll have to find a clue on Shinonome. For this, switch to first person mode and inspect the laptop that is right next to the person you just talked to. You’ll obtain Shinonome’s Laptop as evidence. The scent of cigarettes is perfect for the Detective Dog to follow, so give him a call and let the dog guide you.
The dog will take you to the parking lot at Romance St. After a brief cutscene, Yagami will ask him how he should deal with that selfish Shinonome. Talk it out with the client is the correct answer.
The producer will show up shortly afterwards, and as it’s usual with side cases, it will end up in a fight. Kick his ass and watch the closing cutscenes. You will obtain the Extract Recipe: Die Hard as a reward.
20. A Particularly Hardcore Demo Event
This side case takes place in Ijincho and can be picked up from the bulletin board at Yokohama 99 after you’ve completed Flight of the Game Creator. You’ll have to go to the entrance of Paradise VR in Hamakita Park Ave.
It’s a fairly standard side case. You have to play a shoot ‘em up minigame. Don’t worry about losing. Expect a fight outside the building when you go to leave. Once you’re done, you’ll obtain the Enhancement Contacts 1 as a reward.
21. Dastardly Detective: Introduction
This side case becomes available as you complete the task to investigate the wiretapping incident from the main story. Yagami will gain access to the Detector, a gadget that allows him to track down sources of electronic signals. You will put this to the test right off the bat by searching for the bug in the parking lot. From where you’re standing now (which is on the side of Bayside St.), head to the opposite direction (Daikokuten St.) to start the search.
It’s rather straightforward. Once you’re there, switch to first person and equip the Detector. Just before you get to the gate, you will notice the device beeping faster as you get close to the gray RV. Look for the teddy bear in the backseat and focus on the door to examine it. From here, just watch the following cutscenes. Afterwards, the case will be closed.
22. Dastardly Detective: The Wandering Bug
This side case becomes available after picking up the “noise” keyword in the Buzz Researcher after Dastardly Detective: Introduction. You’ll see messages that signalize Isezaki Rd. and once you’re there, you need to use the Detector in first person to look for a woman in red walking by. Inspect her and a cutscene will take place.
Afterwards, head to Girl’s Bite in Ohama St. Interact with the woman and, once the cutscene is over, the case will be closed.
23. Dastardly Detective: Grasping Attention
This side case becomes available during Chapter 5. Head to Sasaki Arcade in Ijincho and switch to first person. Use the Detector to pick up a signal from a stuffed penguin in one of the UFO catchers inside. Now, you’ll have to play and win it.
If you fail, a woman will ask if you’d like to buy it for 10,000 yen. Go ahead and choose to pay the fee. After a short fight, the case will be closed.
24. Dastardly Detective: Before the Torch Burns Out
This side case becomes available during Chapter 5. Head to Central St. (the corner south of Yokohama 99 in Ijincho) and switch to first person. Once again, use the detector and aim at the sky to find a flying drone.
You’ll have to track down the signal – to save you some time, head to the alleyway in Ohama St. and use the Detector on the person standing in the middle. A chase sequence will take place to end this part of the questline.
25. Dastardly Detective: The Eavesdropping Wallet
This side case becomes available during Chapter 5. Head to Romance St., specifically right below the Girl’s Bite taxi stop on the map, and switch to first person. Use the detector and aim at the wallet on the floor next to the big red machine. Now, it’s time to give Detective Dog a call so he can track the wallet’s owner.
From here, just enjoy the walk and watch the closing cutscene.
26. Dastardly Detective: Seiryo High in Danger
This side case becomes available during Chapter 6 after you’ve finished The Eavesdropping Wallet. After heading back to Ijincho with Kaito, the Buzz Researcher will let you know of new hits from the “noise” keyword. Now, head to Seiryo School and use the Detector to aim at the main door on the right side. Then, Seiryo High in Danger will begin.
Head inside the school. Now, go to the cafeteria and use the Detector to find a spy camera on the vending machines in the top left corner (while looking at the map). The second spy camera is inside the basketball court. Use your Detector again to find the camera inside an electricity outlet. The third spy camera is on the second floor. Specifically, the Detector will take you to a row of small lockers on the southwestern corner, between the Girls’ Bathroom and the 2-1 classroom.
The fourth spy camera is located in the school’s basement. Head to the Dance Club and aim at the boxes on top of a shelf close to the southeastern corner with your Detector. If Nishizono isn’t in the club at the moment (depending on your progress with the storyline) you’ll have to continue this when she’s back.
If that was your case, inspect the boxes with the Detector again — this will trigger a short cutscene. After the cutscene, head to the MRC to find the last camera on the ceiling, right on Amasawa’s back. Then, two prompts will appear:
- Why was the hidden camera set up in the MRC different from the rest? Choose maybe he’s keeping tabs on the MRC.
- How did the culprit open the lock to the club room? Choose with a master key.
After the big discovery, confront the culprit in a fight and the case will be closed.
27. Dastardly Detective: Seiryo High in Danger
This side case becomes available after completing Seiryo High in Danger. As soon as you exit the school, there will be new hits for the “noise” keyword, which lead you to Sunrise St. after Tsurukame Bridge.
Once in place, use your Detector to find a signal coming from the manhole in that passageway close to the river. A woman will emerge from the sewers. When prompted, use your Detector to find a bug in her pockets. Don’t miss the following cutscene. Then, the case will be closed.
28. Dastardly Detective: The Secret Ingredient
This side case becomes available after completing From the Pit of Despair. As soon as you’re done, there will be new hits for the keyword. This time, we’re heading to Bayside St.
From the taxi stop at The Bee, look for a staircase in the corner of the street. Head upwards and use your Detector to track down the signal coming from the ramen bowl left on the floor. After a brief cutscene, you’ll have to tail the suspicious man. The plan will go sideways, but you’ll be one step closer to finding the detective. For now, the case will be closed.
29. Dastardly Detective: The Final Night Flight
This side case becomes available after completing The Secret Ingredient, but there’s a catch. You’ll need the “fleeing overnight” keyword for the case to appear. This showed up to us after completing a School Story objective, so there’s a chance it will appear on its own after you let some time pass. In any case, the side case takes place during the night in the alleyway next to Fukutoku Park.
Once you arrive, talk to the family standing next to the boxes. You will then have to use the Detector and aim at the power strip on the floor. Expect a fairly simple fight afterwards. Then, you will obtain the Cigarette Butt as evidence.
30. Dastardly Detective: Closing the Case
This side case becomes available right after The Final Night Flight continuing where you left off. Call Detective Dog to follow the scent. Ranpo will lead you to a white van – go ahead and examine it. A super simple fight will follow. At last, the mystery will be solved.
31. Squirrels Just Wanna Have Fun
This side case becomes available during Chapter 5 in Ijincho. Just outside Seiryo HIgh School you’ll see a kid looking at a squirrel painted on the wall. These are scattered all around Ijincho and Kamurocho.
Switch over to first person and aim at the squirrel to examine it. Amasawa will appear, and you’ll have to respond to a dialogue prompt: choose listening carefully. Switch to first person again, but this time use the Noise Amp. You’ll hear a squirrel noise coming from the lamp on the right side of the squirrel, close to the school’s entrance.
Focus on the lamp and Yagami will receive the Superstitious Eater’s Guide. This adds the Auspicious Gourmet skill to your phone app. The side case will be closed, but you still have quite a few squirrels to hunt down.
32. Big Squirrels Don’t Cry
This side case becomes available after hunting down all 55 squirrels in both Ijincho and Kamurocho. Once you’re done, head to Fukutoku Park in Ijincho and talk to Futaba. The squirrel is found around the structure Futaba was looking at.
This one is listening to something. Use the Noise Amp and aim at the top of said structure. You will obtain Acorns as evidence, and after a touching cutscene, the case will be closed.
33. Curse of the Amasawa Family Heirloom
This side case becomes available during Chapter 6. After the Saori segment, you’ll receive a message from Arasawa. You’ll receive the task to go to the MRC in the evening. Remember that you can sleep on Yokohama 99 to pass the time. Hear the briefing about the situation. You’ll have to go to Plage on foot while chatting with Amasawa. Thankfully, she won’t mind if you run. Ask her more about the statue. You’ll then obtain the Unlucky Cat as evidence.
Now we’re moving to Ebisu Pawn, which is only a few blocks away. After your brief visit to the shop, switch to first-person and examine the gasoline stains in front of the door. Keep moving forward (towards Hamakaze St.) and inspect the bottle. You’ll then have to kill some time, so prepare to play darts with Amasawa. The game was too fun and neither of them paid attention to any strange sightings, so we’ll be trying again at the batting center. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, by the way. Then, head to the back door to set up the plan. You only need to exit through the long corridor.
He will recognize you on plain sight as is. Open your inventory and choose a disguise instead. Then, it’s fighting time. The final step is to inspect the cat. For this, examine the neck and the eyes. Ask a few questions on the truth behind the case, and it will soon be over.
34. My First Errand
This side case becomes available by completing other cases from the bulletin board in either Yokohama 99 or the Yagami Detective Agency. In order for more to unlock, just progress through the main story and make sure to double check the board for any new requests once you start a new chapter.
My First Errand begins with a meeting with the client at Wette Kitchen in N Isezaki Rd, who is waiting for you on the second floor. Whenever you’re ready, accept the request to tail Manaka’s son.
Kaito will show up and tag along to provide support. The first half is fairly straightforward. The second, however, is a bit more… involved. You will need to move with Kaito towards the kid slowly, and make sure to stop whenever he turns around. If you don’t move, the animation will happen on its own, so it’s up to you.
After the sequence, the kid will be in trouble. When prompted, move the analogue stick all the way up and choose to, “Give them a demonic grimace.” Watch the following cutscenes and the side case will be closed.
35. Between Blood and Booze
This side case becomes available after reaching the first level in your relationship with Haruko at Girl’s Bite.
This will start with a regular conversation where Haruko mentions more about her relationship with her dad. Afterwards, you’re free to leave and come back whenever to continue progression through your relationship with her. Once you reach the second padlock icon, leave and come back again to continue forward.
An unexpected event will occur at the bar and Haruko will ask for your help. During your chats with the man, you’ll have to think of something to talk about with Kasawaki:
- So, you have a daughter?
- So, you were on a business trip today? – this is the correct answer.
- You’re quite the looker.
Then, you’ll need to distract him by choosing between the following:
- Her throat’s in kinda rough shape. Bad cold, you know? – this is the correct answer.
- Her Japanese isn’t so great.
The conversation will follow with two more options:
- Why don’t we change the subject from your daughter?
- You must be really proud of your daughter – this is the correct answer.
Enjoy the closure of the story and the case will be closed.
36. Big Shame Hunter
This side case becomes available after reaching the first level in your relationship with Miu at Girl’s Bite. This will start with a cutscene regarding a stalker. Afterwards, you’re free to leave and come back whenever to continue progression through your relationship with her. Once you reach the second padlock icon, leave and come back again to continue forward.
The situation is getting worse, but Yagami may have a clue to work with. Use the Detector and aim at her left shoe. You both will think of a plan, and the culprit will take the bait. A chase sequence will take place afterwards. After a few cutscenes, the case will be closed.
37. Random Fandom
This side case becomes available after reaching the first level in your relationship with Ayaha at Girl’s Bite. This will start with a cutscene involving some office men being loud. Afterwards, you’re free to leave and come back whenever to continue progression through your relationship with her. Once you reach the second padlock icon, leave and come back again to continue forward.
Ayaha won’t be there when you do so; instead, you’ll have to talk to her near Jinnai Station. Once you arrive you will see her doing quite the pose — choose to Call Out. Then, a chase sequence will take place. All that’s left to do is return to the club for a rather hilarious scene. Afterwards, the case will be closed.
38. Step By Step
This side case becomes available after completing the Girls’ Bar School Story. You’ll be able to begin a romance with Emily afterwards, which involves a series of unique activities and conversations. You can kickstart things by talking to Emily at Girl’s Bite. There is only one option available, but it will increase the relationship meter quite a bit. Then, feel free to invite her to darts or the batting center until the bar is at maximum level.
Yagami will then mention wanting to get her number, but he’s unsure how. I’d love to know whenever you’re in is the correct answer.
It’s likely that you won’t be able to progress any further for the time being. Spend some time in free roam or doing main story missions until you receive a message from Emily. Yagami wants to invite her to dinner, but once again doubt creeps in. Use food as an excuse to invite her out is the correct answer here. (I mean, you rarely can’t go wrong with food).
Emily will accept to go out — head to Jinnai Station and wait for her. The date will officially begin. Here, just enjoy the walk to Plage. After a brief cutscene, you’ll have to search for topics to talk about by focusing on Emily’s hair, jacket, and nails. In order, the answers are the following:
- Hair: Choose either Where are your parents from? Or it’s beautiful.
- Jacket: Choose I’m sure you get hit on a lot (very classy, Yagami).
- Nails: Choose Your nails are super cute.
Once you’re done, a series of cutscenes will follow. The night will end earlier than expected, and the case will be closed.
39. Broken Barriers
This side case will become available after you’ve reached Intimacy level 3 with Emily. We recommend you visit her at the bar if she hasn’t sent you a message yet. There, see if there are any topics to talk about. If you still haven’t reached level 3, you can purchase her a gift at Le Marche in Kamurocho. Alternatively, repeating the first course at the batting center can help.
Then, we’re heading to the same hangout spot as before at the station. After a short walk and a dinner at chinatown, you’ll have to inspect her again:
- Hair: Choose How ‘bout a staring contest? Then, move the stick up to Make a silly face and select it.
- Jacket: Choose I like your outfit today.
- Her bag: Choose Being yourself.
Afterwards, you’ll get the chance to ask her about last time. From here, just watch the conversation unfold. Prepare for another short walk with Emily, as well as a closing cutscene.
40. We Mend, We Grow
This side case will become available after you’ve reached Intimacy level 4 with Emily. Repeat the same process as before until you’ve met the requirement and she will contact you. If you want to skip the wait, take a taxi somewhere.
After the call, head to the usual spot at the station. From here, just watch the cutscenes. When prompted, follow your heart and choose either of the answers. Afterwards, the case will be closed.
41. Takayuki Yagami: Evil Detective?
This side case will become available after you’ve completed all School Stories. Head over to the Yagami Detective Agency in Kamurocho and it will trigger itself. Then, search for the “yagami” keyword in the Buzz Researcher.
You will pick down three more keywords. Begin with “saw” and head to the Champion District to investigate. Something is definitely up. Talk to the old man for some answers… or more questions?
You will then have to slip past the murderous old men. In order to do this, open your inventory and select a disguise. Let’s try and find out what has been happening by visiting Tender first. Then, Yagami will return to his office.
You’ll have to find clues about the impostor. Start with the hot pot on the living table, and then investigate other items in the office. Thankfully, the scent of the food is so bad that Detective Dog can be of help. Follow him and you’ll find the culprits in no time.
42. A Final Request ~Reprise~
The final side case (fuck yeah) is unlocked after completing all 41 previous side cases. For this, make sure to grab as many health items and/or Extracts as possible, and head to Hamakita Park.
Prepare yourself for the most bonkers and challenging fight in Lost Judgment. Best of luck!
