Jax Guide: Mortal Kombat 11 Character Strengths, Weaknesses, Tips

Clear eyes, full hearts, metal arms: such is the life of a Jax player in Mortal Kombat 11. The cybernetic super-soldier is, naturally, back in the time-hopping adventure. And his signature mitts are stronger than ever. Although even developer Netherrealm Studios admits that the Mortal Kombat character has seen some massive changes. The classic looks is there, but you’re going to need to learn some new tricks to make Jax work in the new game. That’s exactly why we put together this — our guide to Jax in Mortal Kombat 11. Let’s take a look at what Major Briggs brings to the table, shall we?

Jax Strengths & Weaknesses – Mortal Kombat 11

It’s tough to say exactly what makes Jax tick in the newest Mortal Kombat. The game isn’t out, after all! But developer Netherrealm Studios did us all a favor by showcasing this character (and many more) in video demos. So we’ve got a basic idea of what to expect. Don’t think we’re resting on our laurels, though! We’ll be sure to update this guide with better strengths, weaknesses, and tips once the game is out. For now, though, let’s take a look at what we know about Jax in Mortal Kombat 11.

Strengths

Jax is all about piling on the pressure. His iconic metal arms are now more important to that ethos than ever, since they literally heat up as he punches opponents in Mortal Kombat 11. This results in increased damage and enhanced “Krushing Blows” on certain moves. Since Jax is all about punching anyway, that’s not a bad way to power up.

Jax also comes with a number of grappling options. This makes it easier than ever to punish fighters up close, or literally snag flippy foes out of the air. Once Jax powers up and gets close — particularly near the corners — it’s extremely hard for opposing players to escape. So… don’t let that happen to you!

Weaknesses

There’s a trade-off to being an up-close-and-personal master: your ranged game is rarely as strong. That’s no different with Jax in Mortal Kombat 11. He does have projectile options, but most of them are tied to the heat buildup in his hands. And, as previously mentioned, that requires you to get close enough to punch. Not to mention the heat drains over time. All of which is to say Jax looks prone to losing momentum, particularly against zoning characters, and lacks spammy moves at a distance.

Mortal Kombat 11 Jax Tips

Jax Tips – Mortal Kombat 11

  • Jax heats up his hands to full with every Fatal Blow. It’s tricky to take advantage of this, since you’re at such low health during Fatal Blows, but it might just give you the edge to finish off a foe if the Fatal Blow does not.
  • Jax loses heat in his hands over time, but it’s a very slow process. Don’t be afraid to back off a bit when you need to and go back in later.

Mortal Kombat 11 isn’t out yet. Be sure to check back closer to the game’s release for more Mortal Kombat 11 Jade tips. Until then, please enjoy our breakdown of his strengths and weaknesses — written above!
