Wanna start the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Molten Mirrors DLC? We’ve got you covered. It’s not too hard at all, in fact, though you might find a challenge inside the repeatable new dungeon. This third expansion to the Borderlands spinoff game appears extremely early for new and returning players. Yet the enemies inside will scale up to meet higher-level players
Unfortunately, the game is also extremely bad at explaining how to start any of its DLC. So, to save you some trouble wandering aimlessly around, here’s how to begin the new Molten Mirrorss content in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands!
First, though, there are a couple of quick notes. You should know that this DLC continues the loose plotline of “Mirrors of Mystery” introduced in Coiled Captors and later continued in Glutton’s Gamble. Yet Molten Mirrors is basically a self-contained adventure. One mostly meant for late-game players. It sends you inside a fantastical prison to kill the warden (i.e. the boss at the end). It’s also meant to be a repeatable activity specifically geared towards endgame players, providing some extra loot. It does tie into the first expansion in terms of theme and starting location, however, if you care about that sort of thing.
Finally, you can find more specific information about this expansion from developer Gearbox Software.
How to Start Molten Mirrors in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
When you want to start Molten Mirrors you just need to enter the Overworld. You can do so very shortly after completing the tutorial and character creation. If you already have a more advanced Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands save, just head back to the area where you initially begin your campaign. You specifically want to reach the area with green grass and an orange soda river.
Right next to the shrine of Mool Ah (which initiates the first major side mission in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands) there is a small village indicated by a grey building. The entrance should read “Dreamveil Overlook” in blue letters. The location won’t be marked on your map ahead of time, though, so go to where the images above and below this section indicate. Then interact with the entrance of the Dreamveil Overlook to go inside.
“Inside” is a spooky, purple town. The surrounding area is full of creepy ghosts and other oddities, but don’t worry. They’re not hostile. Just ignore them for now and head up the small hill to your right. You should approach a horned, golden woman next to a fleshy prize wheel. This NPC is Vesper. She will start your Molten Mirrors quest (and the rest of the “Mirrors of Mystery” missions for that matter). Speaking to her will further introduce you to the Wheel of Fate and Lost Souls. The latter is a currency which powers the former, letting you buy random loot after completing different mirror dungeons.
After you spin the wheel for the first time, Vesper will speak to you. This completes her initial interaction. At this point, you can turn around — facing away from the Wheel of Fate. There should be several large mirrors nearby. At least there will be if you bought the other DLC add-ons: Coiled Captors, Glutton’s Gamble, and/or the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Season Pass.
The correct mirror should glow red when you approach and show the Molten Mirrors boss (similar to the image below). You can also identify it by the horns and teeth around the edges; the other mirrors have different designs. This is the one we want. The other two (a blue-purple mirror with a dragon and a green mirror with a witch) start the other DLC dungeons.
As a note for Season Pass buyers: you might need to download the Molten Mirrors DLC manually first! On PlayStation 5, for instance, the pass unlocks the DLC but does not install it by default.
Simply interact with this red mirror and accept the quest it offers. Though brand-new players should be warned that the enemies inside are tougher than you might expect! You can enter the expansion almost right after starting the game — around Level 3 or Level 4 — but your foes start no lower than Level 13. After which point they will always scale up to match your player character’s level.
If this is your first time accepting a quest from the mirror, a cutscene will play before you’re dropped into the first official mission of the DLC. But after that, you can repeat this mission for more loot. There are four different versions of the map and its boss, Fyodor the Soul Warden, which change over time.
Congratulations! You now know how to unlock the Molten Mirrors DLC in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Best of luck with those drops.
