What is Spell Energy in Wizards Unite?
Spell Energy is the main resource you need in Wizards Unite, as you use it to cast spells. Being a witch or wizard, being unable to cast spells would, of course, dampen your ability to do anything. Most important to note is that Spell Energy isn’t like stamina or energy in most mobile games. Typically, these that recharges over time. Instead, you need to manually collect more Spell Energy in Wizards Unite. The most apt comparison would be Pokeballs from Pokemon Go. Although, thankfully, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite only has one type of Spell Energy to collect.
How is Spell Energy Used in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite?
The main use of Spell Energy is somewhat obvious. You cast spells! Casting a spell will cost one Spell Energy, whether the spell succeeds or fails. You need this energy to take on any Confoundable, so Spell Energy is the most important resource in the game.
You do more than just cast spells with Spell Energy, though. You can also donate to community pots in the Greenhouse to help the plants within to grow. Helping to grow the plants gets you a piece of the spoils — so it’s up to you to decide if donating Spell Energy is worth it.
By default, you can store up to 75 Spell Energy in Wizards Unite. Of course, you can also buy more storage capacity with in-app purchases. You can still get Spell Energy from quests and daily treasures beyond your max capacity, but you won’t be able to gather energy from Inns or Greenhouses once your reach your cap.
How Do You Get Spell Energy in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite?
There are a number of ways to regain Spell Energy in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. If you know what to do, you’ll always have a good stash of energy for Confoundable hunting or Fortress battles!
Complete the Daily Assignment. There’s a specific assignment that always resets daily: “Pick up 1 ingredient or Portmanteau on the map.” These items are everywhere… And picking up just one of them will award you 10 Spell Energy in Wizards Unite.
Keep logging in. There’s a daily log-in bonus called the Daily Treasure. You get Spell Energy as your log-in bonus on days four, 11, 18, 25, and 29. The Daily Treasure resets at the beginning of the month, too, so make sure to log in each day for Spell Energy and other bonuses!
Go to Inns. Inns are the main place to top off Spell Energy in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite (similar to spinning Pokestops in Pokemon Go). Heading in and grabbing a bit to eat will give you Spell Energy, though the amount differs based on what random food item you get. You can go back to an Inn every five minutes, as well. If you’re really running low on energy, just camp out in a location for a while and stock up! Otherwise, if you’re near several inns close to one another, you can make a circuit between the various locations and grab them one after another, circling back every so often.
Go to greenhouses. Greenhouses also grant you some Spell Energy. That catch is that it’s a much lower amount than you get at any Inn. The upside, of course, is that you also get ingredients and can do other tasks. That makes greenhouses always worth hitting up as well as Inns.
Buy more Spell Energy. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite does have microtransactions. With them, you can buy more Spell Energy outright. An additional 50 Spell Energy will only put you back 100 coins (you can buy 160 coins for $2 USD). That’s not a terrible deal if you really need energy right now — and are nowhere near an Inn or already got your daily bonus.
Other Spell Energy Tips for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite
It’s definitely worth the coins to increase Spell Energy Capacity. You get enough coins from quests to easily afford an upgrade or two without spending real cash. Each storage upgrade adds 50 to your storage capacity, so you can go around and hit up Inns and stock up energy for a rainy day (or a Fortress run).
Use Potions to make it easier to take down Confoundables. Using potions when trying to defeat Confoundables will generally make things easier. Fewer spell failures means spending less energy, so use Potions if you think something is going to give you a hard time. You can determine this based on the Confoundable threat level.
Trace spells as accurately as you can. The better you trace a spell, the higher quality cast it’ll be, which also means you’re far less likely to fail. Better yet, accurate tracing doesn’t cost you anything, so practice your accuracy!
